I haven't yet jumped headfirst into reloading, instead I'm building up to it. Right now I'm just sorting, inspecting and reconditioning the brass (as well as depriming). I figure I'll start slow and when I'm ready to reload I'll have a bunch of brass ready to go :).

I picked up a great sorting tool, a series of bins that drops brass down two levels (and dumps .22 to the bottom of the bucket) and this is AWESOME. The only problem I have now is that I have a ton of 40 cal brass with the 9mm brass and I'm wondering if anyone can offer tips on easy ways to separate this stuff. I'm figuring I'll have to go piece by piece and be very careful since the two are very close in size.

Any recommendations before I delve into it?

I figured it would be something like that. Thank you for the advice, I'll try that.

pistol cases nest like troika dolls.

After sorting a few thousand you can tell the size of a spent case laying on the ground from several feet away...glinting like gold in the debris of the range.
