View Full Version : Where can I get parts for old guns?
I have a 3 shot bolt action shotgun that is missing the shovel thing that loads the next round.
Next I have a sears and roebuck ranger .22 that needs a bolt and magazine. These are old guns and I don't know much about them.

Thanks. It seems to have a bunch of parts there. I think I will add a picture or 2 when I get my camera back. Maybe I can get some help identifying the guns.

I don't know what kinda guns these are? Anyone know?
I have found out that the guns are:
Sears Ranger Model 36 .22 S-L-LR (Does the L mean Magnum?) And it needs a bolt and magazine.
The shotgun is J.C. Higgins Mod. 583.1101 12 ga and it needs the ammo lifter assembly.
And e gun parts is all sold out of the parts. Anymore ideas of where to go?
Sears did not make their own guns. You need to find out who made it and find parts under the manufacturer's name.
As a first step I would walk around the tanner gun show with them and see if you can get info. Now and then there are gun smiths with tables that could identify the sears gun. Possibly, they could have parts.
The S-L-LR on the .22 means it will fire .22 Short, .22 Long and .22 Long Rifle shells. It is not a .22 mag.

I crossed referenced the .22 and Marlin mod 80. The mags are the same. I found one guy on gun broker selling a stripped bolt for the model 80. But that was about it.
I am getting frustrated with this. Maybe I should put it on the back burner and see what happens down the road. The gun show idea is good. Maybe I can get some results there.
Both of the guns are sears guns but I don't have the foggyest of how to find the orginal maker.
