Planning on shooting this event. I have a few questions though:
1) Do I need to email anyone to hold a slot?
2) Is there any opportunity to confirm zero prior to match start?
3) Are targets known distance or is ranging required?

Thanks. -Bryan

1. You need to sign up on practiscore. https://practiscore.com/clubs/hosers-steel
2. Yes. Very limited. Once the targets are set up until 9:00.
3. Distances are known. 50, 75, 100, 150 and 200 meters.

I'm planning on being there with my son. Been too long since I've been down to Pueblo for any match. I'll have to dust off the directions. No new guns to shoot, any issues with two people on one gun? Different flights?

My daughter shoots this match. Just make sure Hoser knows that you would like to shoot in different squads before the match.

The weather for this month looks decent, high of 51 predicted.

Thanks to people like Zach and Tim we will have another match tomorrow. Set up starts at 8:00 and the match starts at 10:00.

This month we will be using some new targets.

We are going to get away from the biathlon steel and be using targets just like we use for long range centerfire matches only scaled down to 1-3 MOA.

We figured out a way to have more people shooting at once and speed things up a bunch. Target array ranges will be 50, 75, 100, 150 and 200 meters.

As soon as we are set up we can shoot at the targets to confirm zeros.

Too much fun today. According to the Kestrel we had winds of 19.2 MPH. Holy cow. Thanks for making it happen Hoser.

Yep, another fun match. Winds made it a real challenge as the targets got further out.
Thanks to Zach, Tim, Hoser and everyone else who made it happen.

We had absolutely awesome weather yesterday. Temps in the 70s with a light breeze.

Lots of people managed to connect with the tough targets for the match. A one inch plate at 100 meters and a 2 inch plate at 150 meters.

The Test Your Limits Rack was a huge hit and several people managed to go 8 for 8. Hitting a 1/4 inch target at 39 yards was not an easy shot.

We had several semi autos yesterday. Three AR-15s and one 10-22. Mrs K won semi auto division with a 57 and WiseAsset was hot on her heals with a 56.

With the bolt guns it looks like the old 40X was well represented. 5 of the 17 shooters shooting a bolt gun used a 40X. CZ and Anschutz are the other common rifles.

Lots and lots of people were shooting suppressed. In fact, I didn't put an ear plug in all day.

The next match is Sunday, 27 Nov.

I am going to try and run a match on New Years Day but I need to get approval from the host range. Stay tuned.

Great Match!

Hoser didn't mention that he shot a blistering 88 points out of a possible 94 to win the bolt division. Very impressive shooting!

So for the first rimfire PRS match in Colorado, the 40X Mafia took away top honors with Team CZ hot on their heels. Many congrats to TimK on his high score of 68 out of a possible 79 hits. His Elrod converted 40X absolutely hammered the targets. Close targets at 50 yards and far targets at 220 yards. The small target was a 1/4 inch KYL at 50 yards and most of the 220 yard targets were around 4 inch diameter.

I will try to get some photos up soon.

The next match is 29 Oct. Same same. Belly match from 9-12 and PRS from 12-3.

Tons of fun! Except the cheese wedge [Bang]

Looking forward to the mover...

The cheese wedge is a brutal prop. Eddie Rhodes built that for us many moons ago.

The mover now has a remote and a car battery for power. It will live at 65-80 yards.

One of 2 Vudoos at the match getting some offhand and sitting in. The target was a full size steel IPSC at 220 yards. If you look real close at the top picture, just forward of the puff of smoke, you can make out the grey line that I am 99% positive is the bullet. Not bad for an old man driving an old iPhone.

Good times today. Very tough and switchy winds. Several people missed targets as close as 50 yards because of the wind.

The PRS match had the mover out at 80 yards. Good times. Lots of different obstacles to shoot from and lots of different way to skin a cat on all.

The morning match filled up fast. The PRS match only had a few openings.

A few pictures from the morning prone match. I failed to get any pics from the noon PRS match.

Scooter would use a borrowed Vudoo and Eley Red to win both matches. Solid shooting buddy.

We used our KYL Hostage target for the PRS match.

Isabel scoring for her pop. Quality father and daughter time. Isabel would solidly beat her pop by 5 points.

Fun matches today. The morning match went off without a hitch. It started out a little chilly but by 2:30 the temp had come up about 50° or so to about 90°. For the PRS portion we used the new AA Targets piano keys/wind chimes/wind doping targets at about 160 yards. Hit and spin the center target (about .75 inches wide) and you get a point, hit/spin a white one and get nothing other than knowing where your bullet went. Very cool target. Very hard target.

We also shot the good guy/bad buy KYL off a rooftop, Charlene and Sam spanked us all.

Sign up for October matches opens at midnight on the first of the month. Every match these past few months has sold out in a hurry, so don't drag your feet.

Don't forget to shoot all the stages before you leave, getting a zero on a stage kinda hurts your score. Here are links to todays results.

What started out as sketchy weather turned into a decent day. Almost everyone who signed up braved the forecast and showed up to shoot. Turned out to be a good call, moderate temps and little to no wind made for a pleasant day for rimfire shooting.

Special thanks to Craig, Zach and Bill who showed up early to help set up.

We'll do it all again on Saturday, December 29th. Sign up on Practiscore will open up on December 1.

Huge thanks to Charlene, Dino and Tim for keeping things going while I was gone. It was good to know that I could leave town and know that things would keep on keeping on. Without people helping out, matches like ours cannot survive.

Good turnout today. Congrats to TimK for absolutely crushing the morning match.

But... again this match we had a lot of no-shows. Please be sure you know which match you are signing up for. If there is a question or you have to cancel, please get in touch with match staff. If you sign up and don't show, that means someone on the wait list didn't get to shoot.

We had a lot of people show up yesterday for the rimfire matches. A couple wife/husband combos and father/son combos. Very cool to see.
Congrats to Scotty for a killer showing of 92 points, missing only two targets. Might be a new record.

For the PRS match, one shooter found out you can go from 9 points to zero points by shooting the hostage at 100 yards...

Please remember, without help matches cant continue. Consider waking up a little early to help set things up. It was a little lonely yesterday morning.

Lastly, if you sign up for the match, please show up. Lots of no-shows yesterday.

We had a ton of people show up early to help get this match set up in record time. I cant say thank you enough to everyone for making this match happen. We were shooting the morning match at 9:00 and done by 11:15. We got things swapped order to the PRS match and spend a few minutes checking zeros now that the temp had come up to about 50.

Mary Beth and her Vudoo absolutely smashed the morning match. Way to go girl.

The next rimfire match day is 23 Feb. Be sure to get signed up on 01 Feb as today was again sold out. In March the 4th Sunday reverts back to Tactical Rifle and we will shoot rimfire when there is a 5th weekend.

Fun times today, and the weather was not that bad. It was in the high teens for set up and it eventually made it to around 45 by match end. We had excellent help with set up and were checking zeros at 8:00 and started the match at 9:00.

Huge thanks to Dana for bringing his new mover out. Pretty cool target. The Corona bottle was tough.

We had several now shows again today.

Please, if you sign up for the match, show up. If you cant make it, reach out to match staff so we know you arent going to make it.

Great fun, glad we could make it. The PRS part is humbling for those of us having shot mostly prone. Thanks to Dana and Dave on my squad for all the insights and help with the gear. And Dana's mover target was humbling!

A great example of how even low winds, that are switching back and forth, can be more confounding that constant 15-20mph winds

If you build it, they will come.

Not always.

No more rimfire PRS. Just not enough people shooting and helping to make it worthwhile anymore.

If enough people ask I will look at starting it up again late next year. The targets and props arent going anywhere.

Until then, head out to Ramah/Ben Lomand and shoot with Louis at his NRL22 matches. See you there.

I will be adding more targets and shooter slots to the match. Expect 100 rounds plus the KYL for a maximum total of 108 rounds required. Target size will remain the same unless people want it changed. It is all up to you. It is your match. I just set it up.

November matches open up tomorrow at midnight. Dont drag your feet unless you want to be stuck on the wait list. If you sign up, please show up or let match staff know you wont?be there. We still have lots of no shows.

Nope. Maybe in 2024 if enough people ask.

Sounds good, honestly it was kinda nice getting home at noon after shooting an entire match! Question, I know you are adding targets to 50 and 75, which is awesome, would adding a stage, I was thinking the spinner or hostage KYL, be outside of the "spirit" of the morning match? Just a thought, I always like the idea of shooting a little more. If you want me to stop thinking I understand!

28 of the 30 slots are filled.

Yes, we bumped it up from 20 to 30 slots when the noon match went away. And we changed the start time from 9:00 to 10:00 to let it warm up a touch and so TimK can get his beauty rest.

Sundays weather looks to be pretty nice.

No amount of Beauty rest is going to help him. :-)

Huge congratulations to Charlene for absolutely killing it yesterday and solidly winning.

We had a lot of people that were there for set up and it went fast and painless. Teardown also went well. Many thanks for making it happen again.

It seems like nobody hated the 100 yard KYL so we will leave it and hopefully we will have the new 50 and 75 yard targets ready for next month.

We will try to figure out a way to keep the log jam on the 200 down to a dull roar. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Speaking of next month, registration opens in a few days.

Here is the link to todays results. The temps were nice but the wind was not.

We had a ton of help with set up and tear down. Thank you so much for coming out and helping. It makes things much easier.

This is the last match of 2022 and I could not have done it without Charlene. Please tell her thank you for all she does to keep these matches going all year and keeping me from doing stupid things, which is a constant battle.

Next months matches open up in a few hours. Hurry up and sign up.

The forecast for tomorrow is still garbage in the wind dept. Right now its looking like a steady 15-20 with some pretty ugly gusts.

But I am going to remain hopeful that this front stalls and gives us enough time to shoot tomorrow because shooting 22s in that much wind really isnt fun.

I will make a final weather call by 5:00 tonight and email everyone.

In the meantime, go sacrifice a chicken or something to make the wind gods happy.

By popular demand, our precision rimfire belly matches are now a monthly match.

Charlene and Mike made this change happen.

Starting in April 2023, the 4th Saturday is rimfire in Pueblo.

See you there.

Lost and Found. If you ended up with a green CompTac shooting mat, please get in tough with me so I can get it back to the owner.

New to us shooter Jon M rolls in to his first match with his Vudoo and ties for first place. Good shooting Jon. See you next month.

The range hardly got any moisture from this storm. We are good to go for tomorrow.

We do have some shooters on the wait list so please verify with your spouse that you are allowed to go outside and play.

Set up starts around 7:30-8:00, we can verify zeros after 8:00 and the match starts no later than 10:00. Please arrive no later than 9:30.

Huge thanks to everyone that made today happen. We had an awesome set up crew that was able to let us start shooting around 8:00. And tear down went really fast also. The new berms that Paul Davern built us are working out better than I thought they would.

We had a couple no shows again today. If you cant make it, please let match staff know asap so someone on the wait list can shoot.
