My question is: Can I eFile a Form 1 before I take possession of my pistol from the FFL?
I'm currently out of state working in Pittsburgh, PA for the next year. I purchased a Sig MPX online and it's going to be shipped to my FFL in Colorado Springs. They'll hold on to it until I can make it back for a visit in December or February.
So....... instead of wasting all this down time can I go ahead and efile my Form 1, even though I don't physically have the MPX? It's paid for.
thanks.

Hmm I would be interested in knowing the answer to this. I would think no. Reason being is since you haven't filled out a 4473 to actual pickup the firearm, you do not own it.

Why not. However i'd verify the FFL has their hands on it to confirm serial #. Last thing you want is having to do it a second time, it wouldn't be the first time it happened. What's another 2 - 3 day wait?

Yes however as Kazoo mentioned just verify the serial number and you are good. I do this myself and I imagine if you ask they won't have an issue with it. All I do for customers is text a pic of the serial number on the lower if someone wants or I toss it on my scanner and send them a pic in an email.
