This graphic reminds me of discussions at a prior job. I complemented a coworker on her orange dress one day, only to be corrected that it was "rust" -- or was it "tangerine"? There after, I was very careful to only use primary and secondary color names to refer to her car, her clothing, etc. [Coffee]

One question remains in today's gender-confused society: should the categories on the left and right refer to "if you're a girl/guy" or should they now be "if you are attracted to guys/girls"? [Coffee]
You'd then have to include "plaid" for the lesbians.

Had a client come in and ask for cerulean blue . Sure no problem. I have blue light blue or dark blue. There's powder blue, but it's really white with a touch of blue kicked in for aesthetics.

From Says Uncle:
Prior to this weekend, our master bedroom was a color called China Doll. Now, every penis-bearing person reading this is thinking China Doll is not a color, its an oriental figurine or the name of a porn star. See, China Doll is a very, very light shade of brown or possibly a dark shade of white. There is some debate in the scientific world of color evaluation as to what color it really is. We (and by we, I mean the wife) decided that we needed to change from China Doll to Apple Butter. Again, penis-bearing individuals are thinking that Apple Butter is something you put on biscuits or the name of a porn star. Apple Butter is a slightly darker shade of brown (or possibly white, were still not sure) than China Doll.

Well, we all know the diagram is based on an inaccurate generalization. Porsche guys certainly know the difference between Aqua Blue, Mexico Blue, Ipanema Blue, Midnight Blue, etc. and outdoorsmen know the difference between forest green and olive green (and British Racing Green if you're also a car guy). OTOH, WTF a heterosexual male should know or care about the differences between lime, spring, and flora greens is beyond me and Superman told Lois she had pink underwear, not carnation or bubblegum or whatever.

Don't forget Robin's Egg Blue for the Porsche crowd.
It is a stereotype that is documented by research. Women see more colors than men.

Undocumented color needs.
A man with a bad monitor clearly made that list, as what is labeled as maroon is clearly not and there looks to be a few repeat colors.
Men see a limited color spectrum until it comes to painting out custom cars or bikes. Then we all of a sudden have opinions on every shade of every color in every type of finish.
