I was looking through the freezer today and ran across a package of pork steaks dated 3 years and a couple of months ago.
They are heavy foil wrapped and upon opening do not appear to have any freezer burn on them.
Should they just be tossed out ?

Chest freezer or your kitchen freezer????? If they were in a chest freezer I would cook them and see how they turn out, kitchen freezer I would toss them. Just my two cents. B

Only one way to find out! Fire up the grill!

If there is no freezer burn you should be good.

If no freezer burn and normal appearance, cook it up.

I usually designate old stuff in freezer to recipe like chili or stew or pot pie. If flavor is off a little no worries.

Why risk it? Are you starving? Broke? Just make dog food out of it.

Personally, I don't keep frozen items anywhere near as long as most people do. They tend to lose their nutritional value fairly rapidly. On top of that it's not that they don't go bad when frozen they just do so at a much slower rate and differently than when not frozen. That 'bad taste' is usually a good indication that your meat is poop. I also avoid frozen meat whenever possible. I'm a bit OCD when it comes to my meat flavor though and most won't notice the minor differences.

Personally I'd feed it to the dogs, they'll love the funky flavor (and if they could talk, they'd tell you what you've had in your freezer over the last 3 years)

Not that I'd think it's unsafe, just that it's not going to taste good.

For me if I have to ask that question the answer is no don't eat it.

Probably be safe to eat, just might not taste great. Stuff like this is why I use a vac sealer and a sharpie to put a date on it.

Well, the boss (wife) made a command decision, she threw them out before I got home today and could throw them on the grill.
