But seriously though, I have a large amount of disdain for 95% of my fellow millennials. The "decent human being" gene is in extremely short supply among most of my peers.

Werd. I can't tell you how often I look at people and wonder how they were the fastest swimmers in a group of 40 million.

On the other hand, I have seen 18 - 20 year old kids raised with the collective sum of human knowledge at their finger tips from the time that they learned to walk that used it to their advantage. Incredibly smart and capable, and driven to learn. Having access to the internet everywhere has allowed them to gain knowledge at an incredible pace.

That immediate access means they have to work much less at solving known problems, but struggle and give up solving complex problems without textbook answers and without constant coaching. Part of that is education as well... To pass a modern college course all one has to do is recite the book and agree with the prof. Students are taught groupthink and collectivization are better than individual achievement and objective performance.

This has made it's way into the corporate environment as well. When a manager says "how we solve a problem is more important than the solution," run! These people create mediocrity and failure that hurts everyone.

Yes, I agree there are exceptions but this is becoming the norm. What saddens me is the "group" punishes those exceptions and disincentives success/results.

As a Gen Xer I do not expect social programs to be available for us. The math just doesn't work. That doesn't mean millennials won't be saddled with massive debt and taxes--they will.
