Wasn't sure where best to post this, mods please move if needed.

Took my wife low light shooting for the first time. I've been to a few night competitions and hunting before but this was a totally new experience for her.

Big thanks to Trigger Time Gun Club for making this possible by offering it to members on Saturday nights as a standard lane reservation. Rear gear area lights are on, but lanes are dark. Has a nice urban nighttime effect.

Couple of my wife's takeaways,

Flash suppressant is a good thing. Let her try several load varieties and the specific carry loads HST/gold dot were noticeably better in short barrel shield. 147gr HST made a cool little donut shaped fireball.

Small cute flash lights are nothing like a good tactical light when you need to ID and react fast. She's switching her nightstand light to one of my spare Surefire G2s.

Shooting with a flashlight is tough.

Night sights are good. She never wanted them before, and did quite well just point shooting. I let her run a box and then asked her to switch her M&P Shield for mine with tritium sights. Now she wants a new set of sights. Her groups immediately went from pie plate to fist size.

She now gets the SBR with mounted light and suppressor. She was shocked how much easier the SBR made shooting in mixed light. Thought it was heavy and smelly, but cool. She deemed it overkill, sticking with her shield for a HD gun.

She was really glad to just go shoot in low light. Walking to her car after night meetings and entering/staying in a dark house when I am traveling for work are her top concerns.

Figured I would throw this out as a reminder to test your gear as you plan to use it.

Testing gear and having the comfort level to know one Can Do, as needed.

Cool.

Take me instead of her next time.

Hell, I'll even cook you dinner. Just don't expect to get lucky later on.

Night sights can make a huge difference. Got them on one S&W, I guess I should add them to hers too.

For others interested, shoot indoors has either a weekly or like bi weekly low light shoot.

Thanks for the comments. I'm mainly just glad to have a wife that likes to shoot.
