Anyone who thinks the DemocRats are going to be satisfied with the grandfathering of standard capacity mags here needs to read this.

http://www.chron.com/news/crime/article/Initiative-seeks-to-tighten-California-s-strict-6572932.php

The measure drafted by Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom (http://www.chron.com/search/?action=search&channel=news%2Fcrime&inlineLink=1&searchindex=gsa&query=%22Gavin+Newsom%22), a Democratic candidate for governor in 2018, also would require owners to turn in large-capacity magazines and report when their weapons are stolen. It comes in the wake of high-profile killings nationwide and three in the San Francisco Bay Area that were tied to stolen guns.

Additionally:

— Ban possession of large-capacity magazines with 11 rounds or more. Owners would be required to sell them to a licensed firearms dealer, take them out of state or turn them in to law enforcement to be destroyed. State law already bans manufacturing or selling magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.
— Create background checks for ammunition purchases. Ammunition dealers would need to conduct a background check at the point of sale for all ammunition, and dealers would need a license similar to those required to sell firearms.
— Require reports on lost and stolen guns. California would join 11 other states in requiring that lost or stolen firearms be reported to law enforcement.
— Require felons to relinquish weapons. California courts would set up a clear process on surrendering guns. The measure's authors say that more than 17,000 Californians prohibited from owning firearms currently have guns.
— Ensure reports to the federal firearms database. The California Department of Justice (http://www.chron.com/search/?action=search&channel=news%2Fcrime&inlineLink=1&searchindex=gsa&query=%22California+Department+of+Justice%22) would have to notify the federal government on residents who are prohibited from owning guns. Now, the state reports voluntarily.

This shit will be here, sooner or later...[Mad]

I can't believe that they're going to require felons to give up their guns. Or that they believe that felons will give up their guns.

Just for giggles, let's say they pass this law, nationwide. What happens if a mass shooting happens after that?

-it's a rhetorical question, no need to answer....

If they pass this law nationwide and there isn't a GIANT mass shooting (historically we've called these kind of mass shootings "civil war" or "revolution") then Americans deserve the death-camps they're headed toward.

And I don't buy this "as goes California..." nonsense. Maine just enacted Constitutional Carry today ... the momentum is on our side and while it is still yet to be seen whether Colorado straightens itself out, I really don't expect well see gains on the gun control front nationally any time soon.

I am personally worried about all the Cali transplants we have coming to this state, there are enough of them all ready that make things difficult and they have already been brainwashed enough to think that guns are terrible.

Oh good! Finally a law that will prevent felons from having guns! I'm sure they will line up to comply, right?

THANK YOU. Generally speaking, humans tend to meet their own expectations. If we expect to lose, we will. Being a defeatist certainly won't help.

They shouldn't have shot those space aliens in 1963. They could push this asteroid to impact in the Pacific. California would have a bad day! Impact equivalent to 750 megatons...

I hate that there is a really high probability my kids will not get to grow up with clean water, electricity, or an abundance of food. On the plus side their kids might get a chance to grow up in a better country than their parents.

Been quite awhile since the future of things scared me, recently though they scare the hell out of me.

Its a win-win for anti gunners. If there are no mass shootings then they say "See? It worked!" If there happens to be a mass shooting with these laws in place they can say "Well, we obviously need even stricter laws." The good news is that they'll have to secure our southern border to stop the criminals from smuggling guns in.

Like that will ever happen. Importing criminals allows the government to become more overbearing upon the people who abide by the law.

Some of us have come here because of the more sane gun laws. The dumbasses are ruling the roost for now, hopefully the folks still in Ca. Will see their error and vote the dumbasses out. I don't see that happening soon enough though.

The corruption and graft money in CA government is too big to give up, it will only get worse and in a few more years the gov and one or two drug cartels will have become the same entity and control the entire state. Elections are rigged by gerrymandering voting blocks and the dumbing down of the educational system is producing the biggest population that have not a clue and are easily distracted (ooh, shiny!!), by nothing important and will not say a word as long as they think that they are getting some sort of benefit that they don't have to "pay" for. It is sickening and we are behind the curve in getting back to a constitutional republic instead of the tyranny that is in place and getting bolder by the day.

I don't doubt it ... I know several transplants from deep blue states like CA, NJ and MA that are here precisely because of our saner gun laws ... but for every one of those you have several leftist idiots moving here for the weed.

Good news for CA from the NRA-ILA:

As previously reported (https://www.nraila.org/articles/20150826/california-los-angeles-will-be-sued-to-invalidate-newly-passed-ordinance-banning-so-called-large-capacity-magazines), the City of Los Angeles has adopted an ordinance that prohibits the possession of standard capacity magazines capable of holding more than ten rounds. These magazines are possessed by millions of law-abiding Americans for a variety of legitimate purposes, including self-defense. This ordinance will not prevent violent crime. Instead, it will limit the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners who choose these magazines to defend themselves and their families.
Now, 30 duly elected California Sheriffs, two law enforcement organizations, the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA), and several other individuals have filed a lawsuit (http://michellawyers.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Petition-for-Writ-of-Mandate-and-or-Prohibition-or-Other-Appropriate-Relief.pdf) seeking to invalidate the ordinance. The lawsuit challenges the magazine possession ban on legal “preemption” grounds, because California state law specifically allows for the possession of such magazines.
Under the conditions of the ordinance, the mere possession of any “large-capacity” magazine within Los Angeles after November 19, 2015 will be a misdemeanor offense. Los Angeles residents must get rid of their banned magazines by that date. The lawsuit asks the court to stay enforcement of the ordinance while the matter is litigated, so that law-abiding city residents can maintain possession of their lawfully acquired property pending a resolution of the case. But if the court refuses to stay enforcement of the ordinance, Los Angeles residents who possess any “large-capacity” magazine generally have the following four options available to them:

Option #1: Surrender all such magazines to the Los Angeles Police Department- Although state law allows you to sell or transfer any “large-capacity” magazine to any California peace officer, the ordinance as written only allows you to transfer all such magazines to the LAPD. If you choose to surrender your magazines, you must do so by November 18th, 2015. DO NOT attempt to surrender your magazines to law enforcement within Los Angeles after November 18th, as you will be in violation of the ordinance and could face a potential misdemeanor charge.

Option #2: Sell or transfer all such magazines to a properly licensed person- There are limited options available to civilians under state law when transferring or selling “large-capacity” magazines. One of the few is to sell your magazines to a properly licensed firearm dealer in the state of California.

Option #3: Remove all such magazines from the City of Los Angeles- If you are able to do so, you must remove your magazines from the City of Los Angeles before the ordinance takes effect. But you must also be careful not to unlawfully transfer the magazines to another person. To avoid doing so, only you can have access to the stored magazine (e.g., only you have the key to the safe or storage area where the magazines are kept outside of the city). Once outside of the city, you can also sell or transfer your magazines to any California peace officer.

Option #4: Permanently alter all such magazines- The ordinance does not consider magazines that have been permanently altered in a way that will only allow them to accept 10 or less rounds to be “large capacity magazines.” Unfortunately, it is not clear what constitutes a “permanent” alteration.

If you are a Los Angeles resident and you fail to exercise one of these options for any of your “large-capacity” magazines before the ordinance takes effect on November 19, 2015, you should contact an attorney experienced in firearms law to discuss your situation.
Significantly, the law doesn’t just apply to Los Angeles city residents. Non-resident gun owners must avoid traveling through any part of the city of Los Angeles while possessing any banned magazine. It is practically impossible to know all of the city’s exact boundaries, as illustrated by this map (http://www.graphatlas.com/los_angeles_map_city_communities.png). The borders of Los Angeles intersect every major Southern California freeway. In some cases the city of Los Angeles completely surrounds other smaller cities, like Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica. So anyone traveling out of Santa Monica or Beverly Hills, and anyone traveling through the city of Los Angeles with a banned magazine can be prosecuted.
Stay tuned for further information on whether or not the ordinance will be stayed pending resolution of the case. As the case progresses, you will be able to view all of the filings in the case here (http://michellawyers.com/shasta-county-sheriff-thomas-bosenko-et-al-vs-the-city-of-los-angeles-et-al/). In the meantime, please refer to the information below on ways you can help fund this lawsuit and others like it that seek to preserve and promote your Second Amendment rights.

I really hope you're right. Maybe it's more accurate to say that all bad ideas germinate in CA/NY/NJ and then attempt to spread nationally. Watching what goes on there may give other states a heads-up on what libtards will be introducing in their state legislatures next year.
