My first "custom" rifle is being built by the gunsmith now. I was going to finish(aka start) my 6x45ai but decided(with help) to get this special little baby. I'm very excited, should be a good hunting rifle and good p dog rifle as well. More details and pictures to come.

Gotta go order some stuff from midway...

AKA-Spook built my 6 Grendel and a couple more for others here on the forum. All of us are very happy.

Order 87 grain Speer tnt projectiles, 100 & 117 grain Sierra game king, upper, 6.5 Grendel brass, dies, mags, etc.

AKA-Spook is working on it diligently, I think he's almost as excited as me.

25 Grendel(almost) vs 223.

Interesting. This a bolt or semi build, some specs and approx investment ? That ruger precision has my interest. However i've been known to change my mind more than once. IF HCWT is building one i'm very interested.

Semi auto. I will put a pencil to it when I get it all done. Gonna be on the plus side of 2 I'd guess.

Not including scope of course.

Ignore the optics placement. Just put it on there to weigh it. 11 pounds with an unloaded mag. I will be switch the scope mount to a GG&G this weekend. And reloading.

Thanks AKA-Spook. Looking forward to shooting this beauty.

So I ordered a thunder beast ultra 9 suppressor. Paper work will take 4-6 months. Am I crazy to want to wait to do kid development for after I get the suppressor? This rifle will be shot 100% suppressed... Opinions?

Just incase this was missed during the lag...

I don't think I have shot a single round out of the 6 Grendel that Spook built me without a can on it. Either a 30PS or an Ultra 7.

If it was me I would do load development now. Maybe only a slight tweak could be required after adding a can.

Thanks hoser. First custom rifle, first suppressor. I just want to make sure I'm doing it all correctly.

My Ultra 7 was approved, just need to pick it up from Tim. You're welcome to try it out. If i can tag along, naturally.

For the load development itself my 6grendel didn't seem to mind one way or the other with the can or without. (Tbac 30 ba and ultra7) it does run smoother with some tweaking of the buffer weights and spring (JP scs)

Finally got to road test the new rifle. Man it's a sweet shooter. I didn't get to load develop as much as I want to but got pretty good results. I started at Sierra 100 grain soft point 28.6 grains and worked up to 30.1, using win748 working up in .3 grain increments.

Max load that I was willing to try today was 30.1. I saw no over pressure signs.

Per aka-spook:
Load data shows that it should be 43772 psi.

I was shooting at 100 yards with front bags only. Not the most ideal set up for load development but it's what I had today. The best group of 4 was 29.5 grains.

That will get me close enough for this weekends activities.

First confirmed kill this weekend. Shot a doe at 120-150 yards, jumped up and spun around and dropped. Hard hitting round that did some real damage. I'm looking forward to load development for a ballistic and super sonic.

Went out Thursday night to a range near by and did a little shooting. I replaced the buffer spring before I headed out to Kansas to hunt, but this was the first time since then at the range. There was about a 15 mph steady cross wind and gusts much higher than that. I was able to put this group together regardless. I love this rifle. Looking forward to stretching it's legs.

Good to see you get some trigger time in. Nice grouping for a windy day.
