View Full Version : A little good news... I got engaged!

Sorry I haven't been to active on here... work has me pretty busy, and then personal life is crazy busy (even more so now). So amidst all the bad news circling around lately, some good to report:
I just got engaged the other day! We mark our 2 year anniversary in December, and intend to get hitched sometime next year in the warmer months. We're still undecided on the date and looking at venues now. We might do the Barn up at the Meadows in Evergreen (Marshdale) but haven't decided on the location yet. We like the idea of an outdoor ceremony and the reception close by, but looking around a lot of places are pretty pricy (we're more than likely paying for it ourselves). So yeah, there's the new news to share!

With family and friends, we would have to do it here, somewhere relatively close as my grandmother is in her late 80's. Besides, we have a lot of her family coming from FL, no sense in everyone having to make a trek... [Coffee]

Ha, that's what everyone said to us too. We had the wedding in Vegas and almost everyone still showed up anyway.

Just a tip. I'm sure you'll find the perfect venue in the end.

^ Vegas. Cheap. Or it was 24 years ago. 4 airfare, room, and misc. items was only like $1500 and several friends and family drove up and met us there.

Great news!

My wife and I got married at folks place in a outdoor ceremony and my mom and her mom did all the cooking for a smaller wedding party.

As far as a venue goes, one thing to look at is off day golf courses.
I had the same idea about 6 years ago for golf courses during off-season months. Our wedding was at Arrowhead Golf Course and we got a screaming good deal for our March wedding. Was an absolutely beautiful venue.

There are a bunch of bridal shows in Denver in January/February. If you can get in bookings that take place shortly after that time frame and book a few months before, you might find a really good deal. The venues like to go to these shows with some dates on the books and not empty calendars.
