Attended the Princeton, IL gun show today. One hell of a lot of lookers and some actual buyers. Probably 300+ tables and were filled predominately with guns and shooting related stuff. No beanie babies, jewelry or trinkets. Was a pleasure to see high capacity magazines all over the place at normal prices and even some .22 LR ammo but didn't price the .22 ammo as I need no more of that stuff. Signs on most of the tables cautioning folks to show their FOID card BEFORE handling any firearms OR ammo. Some signs indicated that an out of State DL would preclude having to display the FOID for ammo. Looked like 90% of the attendees were good old boys (farm guys) who were spending a rainy day out of the muddy fields and in the gun show. I was kinda watching for Garands and did see very few and those had HIGH prices on em and in beat up condition. Looks like The only "fly in the ointment" of the Illinois shows is having to wait 24 hours for long guns and 72 hours for handguns. This is for the famous Illinois "cooling off period" which is a giant P-I-A but I'll still settle for the Illinois gun shows over the Colorado shows.
Oh, I neglected to mention that admission was a whopping $2 (for Sat AND Sun if you don't wash off the hand stamp) and the tables were $25 for the two day show which kinda beats the Tanner and Springs shows.

Standard capacity mags.
Oh yeah, standard capacity here in Illinois but considered evil HIGH capacity for the Colorado folks.

It's not a Gunshow unless there are gloves, candles, jewelry, some kind of ointment, jerky samples, some tools, coins, metal signs.............oh, that was today's show in the Springs today. I think I saw a gun or two. Saw.......

I've been to a few shows around Peoria. At the time I just played stupid with the foid card and showed them my Mil ID and I was able to buy and look at just about everything. One grouchy old dude wouldn't even let me look at gun books without the foid card. Most of the vendors and customers were great and very friendly.
I bought a TC muzzle loader from a gunshop in Peoria that he wouldn't let me take. He insisted that it had to be mailed to an FFL. I paid the shipping and it turned out cheaper than taking it because of taxes. Of course my FFL just handed me the rifle when it arrived. I also bought a TC Patriot pistol from another vendor and he just handed to me.
Buying ammo was also hit or miss. Some vendors would sell it to me with my Mil ID others not.
Illinois would be a wonderful state if Chicago would fall into the lake and never surface again.
Removed- Fat fingers and wrong thread...

I was tempted to see if any table holders/vendors would allow me to handle a muzzle loader at the Princeton, IL gun show last Saturday especially since I am still "technically" only a visitor with a CO DL. It seems that so many are not that familiar with the lawful requirements of non-FOID guys buying ML's. And, the fear of some IL State law enforcer or worse yet, the BATF getting on their case for some mere infraction of some little known law that they are not even aware of.
