GoPros make for a lot of interesting video.

From the site I found it on:

The dog lives, but this video is still a graphic and potentially disturbing look inside what a wolf attack really looks like.

Klara is a four-year old Swedish elk hound owned by Tommy Berglund. He was on a hunting trip in Värmland County, Sweden when she wandered off.

“My impression is that she was out on a regular search excursion,” Tommy told Swedish Hunting (http://svenskjakt.se/Start/Nyheter/2015/10/unik-film-vargar-angriper-hund--varning-for-starka-bilder/). He didn’t realize she’d been in a fight at all until he found her laying down in the forest and discovered large bite marks all over her body. He threw Klara onto his shoulders and carried her 700 meters out to the road; fortunately there was a vet just 25 minutes away who was able to stitch her up. She’s now recovering at home. Tommy doubts she’ll ever be able to join him hunting again, but is just happy to have his first dog home safe.

Man, I'd be pretty upset if my dog were ever attacked.

AS would i. Unfortunately, we cannot control what we do not see.

My wife said the hunter shouldn't have let the dog go out alone unarmed. I laughed at her. Then she showed me this.

How many people don't leash their dog in open areas?

agreed. This dog did surprisingly well against the proverbial wolves.

I was expecting it to be a lot worse.

The locals in the outlying, more remote areas nearby are furious about the Canadian Gray wolves that have been transplanted (or reintroduced) into Idaho. They've apparently decimated elk and deer herds. Here's a picture of a guy holding a 180 lb wolf that was shot somewhere in central Idaho.

I was in a home a few weeks ago. Guy had 10' ceilings and a wolf pelt hanging on his wall. He claimed it was over 200 lbs. The tip of the nose of the pelt was about 2" below the ceiling. About a foot of tail was laying on the floor. I WOULD NOT wanna run into that animal in the woods.

I feel sorry for the owner. If your dog wanders off and won't come back when called, it doesn't need to be off leash

My uncle who lives in Orofino, Idaho had one of the Gray's stalking his cabin and their cats. Weighed in at 171 lbs. And he isn't one for making shit up.

They're big up there and becoming a bit of a menace. Snopes approved or not.

The snopes article said they couldn't confirm where, and didn't call the photos fake per se. If they can get that big, is spooky. I showed it to my daughter, she said it was Jacob.

They get that big. Snopes is just saying they are not verified as all being from Idaho.

And I'd say the wolves in that video weren't pushing 100 lbs. the Swedish elk hound is about 65lbs on the large scale.

My parents are running into this in eastern WA. The wolves are luring dogs away from houses or attacking them right at the residences.

The coyotes are doing that here. Had to chase the dogs into the woods more than once, only to find 4-6 coyotes waiting.

I'm guessing the SSS philosophy my become a little more common.

Yeah...I can't vouch for the photo. It just came from an article I read. But I can say the pelt I saw hanging was real and taken just outside of Elk River, ID...north and east of Orofino. I can also confirm, again, people here and in eastern WA don't like the gray wolves that have been relocated into the area. As a matter of fact, I saw a sign out and about one day that said something to the effect of, "Stop The Real Poachers...Kill Wolves"...something similar to that.

I agree. I'd say the wolves ran 80 lbs soaking wet.

From what I hear from my uncle and from social media; they're a pretty serious issue for land-owners up there. That species doesn't even belong there. That isn't to say that they can't find a place in that area, but the hands of the local land-owners have been tied on how to deal with them for quite some time. Hopefully that changes.

I'm gonna put that picture in my "NOPE" file for safe keeping. You guys have fun out there hunting with crap like this running around. I'm keeping my happy non-wolf-eaten ass in the concrete jungle.

My uncle who lives in Orofino, Idaho...

I was in Orofino today and started noticing several anti-wolf bumper stickers since this topic came up. Most have a silhouette of a wolf and say, "Save a Deer/Elk/etc..." and the phrase "Smoke a pack a day".

OFF TOPIC:

Also in Orofino I happened to notice a 4' tall "Ten Commandments" monument in front of the Clearwater County courthouse. Apparently it doesn't bother anyone here. I love this state.

I do feel bad for the dog that was getting chewed up, but I think it would certainly bother me more to know that there could be a large pack of 180 lb. wolves laying in wait nearby or around my home and property.
