View Full Version : Hornady 75 hpbt powder help.
Just wanted to know if you guys have had success with the powders I have on hand. They are.
8208xbr
4320
cfe223
4350 I don't think so
4831 I don't think so
H4895
I want to try the heavier bullets. 16" 1/8 twist ar's. I mostly load 55 grain soft points. Haven't tried heavies yet. Thanks in advance for any help. Don't say varget. I want a Dillon measure to do the trick.
Varget.
Spend a little time polishing the inside of the bowl and some of the moving parts and it will meter to within 0.1 either side of what you are looking for.
I load my long range 223 ammo with Varget and 77 Sierras. It holds well under 1 MOA out to 600.
I said, don't say varget. Dammit hoser, in a world where most powders are easy to get, you name the most expensive, hardest to find on the market.
Where is zombiesteve when I need him?

I shoot H4895 with 55's and Varget with anything heavier. Sorry.
All I can say is 4320 is darn near the same burn rate as Varget. A little temp sensitive, but I think it's a solid powder in .223 and .308. It might be a little shorter stick, but not much.
If I had to jump in with both feet from your list, I'd give a long look at CFE223. Just guessing though.
4350 and 4831 are going to be too slow IMO.

For the nosler's it shows TAC & 2230 as options. I just happen to have a Lb of Varget sitting here.

AA 2520 should be in your list of possibilities too.

Are you volunteering to make a run? I'll split 1/2 of that with you :)

I've had really good luck with RL15 as well with 77 grain SMKs.
