Hey all,
Our daughter is in the final stages of her Gold Award Project (similar to Boy Scout Eagle) and has been advertising all over the place. She asked if I could post her announcement here.
She already built a 400' path (well, let's set the record straight ... she managed a small army of us that actually did it :D ) 2 weeks ago. Now comes the community involvement.
Hope to see you Saturday!

Hello, my name is Debbie, I am a junior in high school being homeschooled by my mom and an Ambassador in Girl Scouts. My whole life I have been raised around military, having family and friends who served. Over time I built a strong caring and respect for the men and women serving in the US Military, but noticed that not everyone does. Now I am working towards earning my Gold Award, and for my project I chose to address the issue of the “general public lacking in connection with and not remembering our military service members." Thus Connecting & Protecting was born. My project contains 6 parts, all of which address helping more people get a better understanding of and connection with the US Military and the men and women who protect us.
One part in particular is the Connecting & Protecting event, taking place on October 31st, 2015 at 9:00 AM – Noon. This event will be “Open House” styled with all the US Military branches being represented. Super fun and interactive activities provided by the military, a chance to meet the military men and women who serve locally, fold a flag for the Pocket Flag Project, and much more! Even if you don't know any military members and feel attending isn’t worth it, showing your support for the men and women who serve is important.
The event will be at the US Marine Corps Memorial in Golden, CO (16899 W. Colfax Ave). Parking will be offered at The Home Depot just South of the memorial (16900 W. Colfax Ave, Golden, CO).
Current and former Girl Scouts can wear their uniform. Military active duty, reservists and veterans can wear their uniforms but not required. If you have questions please contact me at debbie4goldproject@gmail.com and also on the project website connectingprotecting.wordpress.com (http://connectingprotecting.wordpress.com)
Hope you can make it!
