View Full Version : Oh crap moment
So here it is Sunday morning, getting organized for the day, thought I'd pay some bills online and staring up at me in the pile is my jury duty summons......for last week!!!! Totally spaced it out. I guess I'll throw myself at the mercy of the court tomorrow morning to see what happens, stupid stupid stupid. Wish me luck.

I've got one for this coming week. Hope I get picked, I never have.
You should be fine. I spaced one by a few months....just call and you'll be good to go.
I'll swing by the DCSO and visit you on my way to walmart....

Well, quit wearing your "Free Colorado" tee shirt & COAR ball cap and you might look respectable enough to be chosen as a juror.

Excellent, just put the file in my birthday cake.

Its an inconvenience to be sure, but if you look at it as free "Dinner Theater" you'll probably find the experience more positive than negative (especially if you get a good criminal case ... civil cases can be interesting but are mostly boring).
I obsessed over that myself...left numerous reminders all over the house to make sure. Concluded the case on Thursday. 4 day case. Civil case, rear end collision. Perps insurance co. tried to say that the lady that got rear ended stopped at a light on I25 offramp was half at fault. THAT crap cost them some bucks.
First time I've ever gotten the summons, got picked first time out! I was supposed to be the secret alternate juror, but one of the other's was found wandering around the courthouse, and couldn't find the 5th floor. So I was up!
4th time I've been called in the 29 years I've lived in Arapahoe County. I'll let you guys know what the word is tomorrow.

Oh....Arapahoe county...well I'll ask my wife to keep an eye out for a guy getting booked for skipping out on jury duty...I'll see if she can keep an eye out for ya in jail...keep ya safe ya know. ACSO don't mess around
Left a message for the jury commissioner, recording says to expect a reply within 2 days. Evidently the best way according to the phone mail system of A County is to send an email so that's done as well. This should be fun, and stupidity should have it's consequences.
Thanks wyome, I prefer toast rather than plain bread if she can help out with that. Let a couple of friends in the SO know so they can stop by and say "hi".

My wife was on the jury of a murder trail. She said it was stressful but very interesting.
Ok boys, no need to organize a break out, all is good. Got an email asking if there are any dates in the next 6 months I'm unavailable and confirming my correct address. Next time I'll add the date to my calendar lol.

My wife called and left a mssg she couldn't make it. They never called back. I guess she'll get another one.

Haha, I do wear that shirt quite often.

I figure it might be kind of cool to see how that side of the system works. My job pays me for going and I have PLENTY of leave time to cover if they didn't.

I missed a summons about 9 years ago, luckily my number wasn't called. This was also the day that Weld County didn't have enough people show up for selection so they were walking around downtown and pulling people for on the spot jury duty.

If I get selected, I hope it's something interesting............not retarded.

I'd be interested to be on a jury (got summoned at 19 when I was out of state, never since then). Too bad I doubt they'd have me, I'm too opinionated, plus I know about jury nullification :P

2 years ago my wife had to serve on Jury duty and the case was a whopper. . Lasted 2 weeks. Defendant was a male teacher, the gal was a 15yr old student. The details of the case were DISTURBING to say the least. The girl was a willing participant in all the activities (some of them jaw dropping, and warped for a 15yr old.). Wife said it was really hard to explain a 3some (male male female) to one of the elderly female jurors. That was only one of the details that had to be explained. There were others that involved 2 males a a female that the elderly juror simply could not understand. He was found guilty of just about everything he was charged with. Made for some interesting and mind boggling conversations after it was all over.
