Both brother in laws did and they only had to sit on a bag of peas for a day or so, GL!

I got the "Golden Shears" award in 1977 or 78 so am not up to date on current procedures. One thing that will make a difference in recovery time is to follow directions and take it real easy for a couple of weeks. I felt great after a couple of days and resumed normal activity (new construction electrician) and man did I regret it! Do what the Doc says and you will be fine.

Yep...85 or 86 for me in the hospital at Offutt AFB so can't really comment on "modern" prodedures. But, no issues, very little discomfort...or maybe the Valium was just really effective. Never regretted it.

The urology center of Denver. Right next to mile high stadium. They are good.

Otherwise, same info others said above ^^^ peas are your friend and take it easy for 10 days.

Urology Associates was where I got mine about 10 years ago . . . non-scalpel method. Procedure was pretty fast. They gave me a valium and then it was not all that bad. A little tugging here and there but not really painful. Pain during recovery wasn't too bad . . . the more disconcerting thing is seeing your junk turn the color of an eggplant for a few days. Just be sure to follow the instruction to take it easy for the week afterwards!! I sort of hosed myself. Was feeling pretty spry a few days into it and decided to do a bunch of yard work--which included carrying my lawnmower down the stairs in the back yard. Wasn't very smart and I paid for it with a few added days of discomfort that would have been easily avoided.

Keep the peas/ice on them, watch a bunch of tv, take it easy for a few days and it shouldn't be a big deal at all.

I had the procedure done about 4 years ago. A little tugging sensation, kind of weird but nothing painful. My recovery was uneventful, a little swelling and black and blue.

I hear the places down in Trinidad are the best in the state?

Had it done little over 10 years ago by a near retirement urologist who was retired career Navy. He had thousands upon thousands of clips on his resume, and it showed. Less than 10 minutes start to finish. A little ice the next day and then good to go.

Had the procedure about 6-7 years ago. My family doctor did it in the office. About an hour total, actual procedure was less than 15 minutes with one small incision. Followed the doctor's order exactly and had no problems. Wear very supportive underwear for a few weeks after.

I saw the doctor with two flat rocks back in 89. It was an in office procedure. Only specifics I remember is they removed a section of tube so no chance if it growing back together. I also remember my wife thinking I was nuts (pun intended) for going bowling that same night. I don't recall any significant pain, but there was some pain. I seem to have a pretty high pain tolerance, your results may vary.

I had a friend try to have sex before it was recommended. He ended up losing a testicle. Never been through this my self but I'd say it's important to follow the rules.

Remember the word inertia. Go down steps...slowly. Don't even think about jumping off ANYTHING.

You want the tubes cut, clipped and cauterized.

Depending on the doctor, two samples afterwards, 30 and 60 days or something like that. Confirms no strays.

My procedure resulted in an infected scrotum...swelled up the size of one of those small watermelons (large cantelope). Had to crawl from bed to bathroom for 3 days. Intensely painful recovery in my case.

Sounds like lots of sore junk. My dad had this done back in the 90s and had zero trouble or pain at all. He told me he didn't see what the big deal was and even played a tennis tournament the next day. I guess he's the anomoly.

I drove to and from the appt. The only thing uncomfortable for me was the smell of burning flesh...my own. [panic]

My urologist gave me the usual warnings and ended with a "true story" about a guy that went horseback riding the next day. He came back to the office that afternoon with two cantaloupes full of blood. Something was said about mine are bigger than yours and the resulting laughter made a grown man cry.

Definitely do the testing afterwards. You want to be assured there are no stragglers.

I had it done about six years ago. Traditional scalpel/cut method (vs. the "no-scalpel" method), took a total of eight minutes from "get on the table" to "you can get dressed now". I found 80-proof pain killers to work far superior to Rx pain killers. Frozen peas/corn/etc. is highly recommended, as are underwear that are 3X too small.

Several friends have recently had the "no-scalpel" method and from their experience, I'd not opt for that at all: much longer procedure (30-45 minutes) and the recovery took more days. I can only guess that the no-scalpel method involves more exploratory searching for things whereas the cut-it method let's the doc get to work right away. I'd get the scalpel-method if I was going again.

Best thing I ever did, would do it again in a heartbeat if needed. I should not have put it off for so long, it's not as bad as I thought it'd be.

Newest procedure is the Jenner method. Watch for the side effects including desire to grow hair out and wear skirts. If you dog feels like a cat see you doctor immediately.
