Some of you may remember when I posted a pic in another pet thread of a bulldog my son adopted. He knew the dog had some issues but because he has a heart for animals he got him anyway because he wanted to help him and the owners couldn't.
He took him to a vet the next day for an evaluation and checkup. The dog had redeye (common problem for this breed) and a skin condition. The vet gave a steroid/soap/salve for the skin and told my son he needed to gain weight before they operated on the eyes. My son thought he took a blood sample as part of the evaluation but found out recently he didn't. Just a few weeks ago after another evaluation it was found the dog had kidney problems.
My son gave him a hydration IV daily and had started a cold laser treatment for kidney problems. My son and his girlfriend have delivery jobs so they took turns taking the dog with them every day. After a rough night he took him into an emergency animal service Saturday morning and was told the dog was in kidney failure and the humane thing to do was to let him go.
Very sad day for everyone involved. RIP smallz : 62057
