It's today's short-attention-span way of claiming to care, while ignoring the actual problem, and taking no steps, nor ever having had any intention of taking steps to address the actual issue.

outside of gun forums, there's no connect with any social media . In that aspect, i'm one of the lucky ones.

I don't know, I really think we can have real #hopeandchange if we all use a tool to change our profile picture to the French flag and post pictures of the Eiffel tower and say we're going to pray for Paris despite not having prayed once in the last decade.

This is essentially just manners. Nearly everyone on this site does the same exact thing when one of our own is having trouble with something in their lives. What does it say about ourselves when we are distressed by other people momentarily thinking of others besides themselves, for however brief it may be? Anyway, here is some more nicely packaged social media to spread around in an attempt to let others express our feelings for us. I'm all for expressing empathy and support for the victims of violence, but doing it in a trendy #hashtag manner accomplishes ZIP. Donate to relief organizations, donate time and labor to support our troops, fucking DO something, don't just change your profile pic and go back to stalking the Kardashians.

I deleted all of my social media accounts a couple months ago. I even went back and deleted my myspace account that I hadn't been on in 10 years. And it has been fantastic. I never realized how much time I wasted on social media, but now that it's all gone I have all kinds of time.

You're not misguided at all, there is value in prayer, prayer does work. I posted that because I'm ornery and sometimes we have to help prayer along its route.
