View Full Version : Military Parka Info Request

A buddy of mine is interested in finding one of these, or the newest model if they've changed.
I had one in England in the late '80s and it was great.
Anyone know who makes it or the military's current extreme cold weather parka?
There are a lot of copies out there, but he's really just interested in the ones manufactured for the military.
Thanks

At least according to their site
they made some of the originals for the .mil

Can't find originals anymore, everything is reproduced out there. Not sure how they compare to the real deal.

I have a couple I was going to put on craigslist but haven't got that far yet. One looks very much like the one pictured but it was made in Minot ND for the gov. The other one is the new very lightweight but extremely warm parka with the matching pants. If he is interested he can PM me. I'm going to be out of town for a few days but when I get back next week I will get to him.

Multi-climate protection system is where it's at now if you can find it. The full kit costs about $6k new.

I have an original, size Medium. Also have an original N-2B short waist parka, size large. Terrific jackets for some of these cold snaps. I wore the N-3B last year when temps were sub-0, and it kept me very comfortable. ...and then there are the old flight suits: one orange nylon, and a couple green nylon suits - heavy and hot!

I sold my AF issue parka like that (but it had white faux fur) in a garage sale over the summer. First thing the first guy there grabbed up.

I have one with the real fur lining I bought she I was 17. Still have it. I used to ski with a tank top under it because it was so warm.
