That's an interesting read. We had GAU-5s in the armory at Buckley up until the mid 90's. Of course, we had M-16A1s with double digit serial numbers too, and 10 Armalite produced rifles with green stocks. The Armalites got turned in while the A1's received conversion kits to become A2s. Now they're in the process of being replaced by M4s.
