So they charged the officer with murder of a 17 year old and released the video a bit ago. This happened over a year ago. Its not a horrifying as people made it out to be unless there is a better version that did not get released.

I don't think things will remain calm, just hope it doesn't go too crazy.

Did I see the cop kick a gun or weapon away?

The article says he supposedly was carrying a three inch knife.

Did you see the photo of the shooter? He looks like some sort of half retarded man-child. Not sure he should have been walking around with a badge and a gun to begin with.

The video is damning. With all the officers on scene, the situation could have been addressed with a taser or shotgun beanbag first. I dont see tbis turning out well for the cop, nor should it based on the video evidence.
This story needs to be a non-story by Wednesday morning coffee, but the media will continue to report it as white cop on innocent black crime and fuel any flames that may be smoldering.

Good. They had a hell of a blizzard last weekend.

According to the news on the radio today, the suspect was seen trying to break into cars, had a 3-4 inch knife slashed the cop car tire and turned toward the cop. And the pic they have of this upstanding citizen is of course ,,,,,,,,,, him in a graduation gown. He als had pcp in his system according to,the news report. This was on a libtard n.p.r channel this afternoon.

What are they protesting? The guy is already being charged with murder and he surrendered himself to police custody.

Now this is getting ridiculous. Fox News is showing, live, a male teen standing less than 2ft in front of an officer in a state down. Cameras everywhere. This kid wants to make a name for himself. IMO it has nothing to do with the shooting. Officer stood his ground and deferred eye contact. If that officer were one of us, that punk would get laid on the floor.

One of my friends is sitting on the roof of his moms restaurant, rifle in hand.

They charged him with 1st degree murder, anyone that knows that statute will tell you they just aquitted the officer.

Unless he has text messages or emails where he said he wanted to kill someone that day, he'll walk on a bullshit charge.

From what I've read, this case moved forward on the officer putting 16 rounds into the deceased almost as soon as he arrived. Several other officers had already been dealing with the deceased and were trying to contain him until officers with a tazer or some other less than lethal arrived. No other officer fired a round. Out in the open like that, it is difficult to explain why only one officer fires 16 rounds while the other three or four or more officers don't shoot.

I am praying for the people of Chicago.

Be safe.

Play stupid games...the kid should've known he was going to have a bad night.

But when you're 12 meters away from the nearest person and walking away from them with a knife, you really didn't earn a hailstorm of bullets. If he had charged a person, or had a firearm, then so be it. But the reality is that not everyone who does something extreme is a hardened psychopath. Bipolar disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, etc. are just a few tragic triggers for erratic behavior. You hope these people can get help, instead of get blown away. And hell, even if this kid was just some angry idiot, I don't think he earned the death penalty without trial.

And the cop was a better than average shot, 16 hits. If he did not reload, sounds like 100% on target

5 million paid to the kids family....for doing drugs, slashing tires, carrying a knife and threatening police officers....
maybe be I need to adopt a couple 16 year olds and let them run around like worthless fucks as a nice retirement plan.

i do believe the cop should have never shot the kid except with a taser or bean bag or even went to town on him with a night stick, even a shoulder shot or leg shot maybe....maybe. I can't armchair what the guy saw at the time but 16 shots is damn insane, especially what appeared to me to be at least a couple more when he was dying on the street.

COMPLY.... So you don't get shot 16 times. Kid was obviously a jackass or mental, but wtf are you saying.

It's hard to hear someone yelling it, that's a few states away. Stop dicking around with that stolen livestock and PAY ATTENTION.

As far as this unfortunate shooting goes, seems like the wrong situation to jump in and be the man of action.

I was merely saying that if you break the law, you risk having an LEO making contact with you and that contact can possibly elevate to some bad results for you. This kid reportedly was breaking vehicle Windows and according to one report, slashed a LEO vehicle tire so he probably was intelligent enough to realize that he was in trouble and chose to ignore orders to stop and drop the knife. ALL lives do matter, just don't break the law which might just jeopardize your chances of being able to reach old age.

I get it Bob, when I get pulled over for speeding, I keep my hands on the wheel. I don't like the word comply. I don't like people getting shot over a bad stupid crazy night either. I do understand he brought the potential of the problem onto himself.

As it turns out the officer in question has had 18 civilian complaints in 14 years. Somehow that's "a lot" (especially in Chicago) but in any case, some of those were for excessive force and / or racial slurs. Just sayin.
