the online retailers seem to be selling alot of this stuff and claim its better than most everything else. is there truth to that? anyone shot good/decent groups with it?

I've shot their 77gr OTM Razor Core ammo that I purchased from Wideners out of a bolt rifle and AR. Accuracy on both platforms was around 3/4" and ringing steel at 600 yards was pretty easy. It is good ammo but prefer the 68 gr OTM bullet that works better in my rifles.

good feed back. I like the black hills 68gr OTM or HP (?) I have been using. I am thinking more along the lines of the 62gr green tip for reserve ammo.

Unless you're engaging light armor save your money, buy the IMI, or other ammo one can shoot at any gun range.

As I recall, the IMI got a great (best) accuracy review from one of the smart guys on arfcom years ago. That and the "NATO" spec load commands a higher price.

I shot up over 1K of the M193 when it was much cheaper, but have been keeping the rest in reserve. Picked up some M855 too when the prices came back down after the panic. If ever needed, I expect the Federal, Lake City, or any of the rest will be MOH capable. (Minute of Hajii)

good point about the range. I like the 62gr because its a touch heavier and I run a 1:7 barrel. the 55gr would likely be just as good. which one do you think will be the better flip come ammo shortages?

IMI is/was Olin, same as Winchester White Box. At least it was last time I looked it up a few years back.

M855 was a flippers dream when the ATF was reported to have a ban in the works. Although the rumor that one guy bought a $10k pallet and likely got stuck with it was mildly humorous.

55gr pretty much any other time.

I thought it was the other way around. IMI was making ammo for Winchester to fulfill mil shortages...

I believe the IMI commercial and mil stuff has different headstamps. IMI is made by IMI but for the commercial market.

Based on your low post count here. I'm going venture you're more in to this for fun & profit, then actual being prepared / well stocked. If and when Bans start going to the house floor, it doesn't matter what you buy. It will all go up in value.

You can sure gain alot of information based on a post count! I am in this for fun, preparedness, food (got into hunting this year) and if I can turn an easy profit by being overly prepared- I will. If I can be prepared, have lots of extra ammo to shoot for fun/ training and have the potential to sell it when the demand skyrockets I would want the best for all scenarios. My guess is that is the IMI 62gr right now at relatively low prices.

Have you had good luck with the IMI stuff? Thats really the point of my thread/ question.

Good luck shooting or good luck selling in a panic for high profit?

I have had good results shooting IMI, there are other members here that have had good luck capitalizing on a panic.

In 2011 I bought IMI M193 for .29/rd delivered. Today at $379/case @ Wideners (plus shipping) it's a pretty good deal if you're hell bent on buying IMI.

FWIW, PPU M855 runs much less $ than the IMI when it shows up. Haven't run any accuracy tests on it, but it sure runs well. Fed M855 will generally be even less $ if available anywhere.

And I thought the green tip 855 meant it was worth more green [facepalm]
Just buy and shoot it.
