With all these postings about dogs, I thought I would start a thread for posting pics of our pets.

I leave it to someone else to kick it off.

1st one looks like a Bengal and 4th one looks like MS13?

Special Ed
12-04-2015, 12:45
First one does look like a Bengal but he's all mutt.

Only the second one has any pure bred in him. Doc says he's most likely Egyptian Mau. He's all black/grey classic tabby on the outside but underneath the top 1/8" of each hair, he's solid white (known as black smoke so he's technically not a tabby - I know....TMI).

Fourth one is "special" in the head (as if that wasn't obvious from the photo). MS13 LOL - my wife is gonna love that!

Thanks for this thread. As I scrolled through it several photographs put a smile on my face which I desperately needed if you've seen the food poisoning thread I just created. I'll dig through some stuff I have when I get a chance and contribute some of our fur babies to hopefully return the gesture. I guess that sums up what pets do for us and the joy they can bring to our lives when things are otherwise a little gloomy. The care, shelter, food & toys we give them in exchange is a small price to pay for the joy they bring to our lives.

That's WINTER WEIGHT, thank you...;) Yes, the second one is Harry, our Bengal mix. We rescued him. He's always had issues with food- poor baby was close to starving to death.

The first one is our Mau, Havok!. He lives vertically. I'm sifting through photos to find pics of our other 3.

Winter weight - yup...sorry. Our Dougal (the first pic) was also emaciated when we rescued him. He started out fighting the others for food but now realized he doesn't have to. I had a cat who had winter weight...22.5 lbs of it. I raised him from the second he was born until he died 15 years later.

No apologies needed- my camera is lousy, and his markings and color are somewhat muted in that light. His eyes are gooseberry green, and they look totally washed out in the photo.

Dougal is adorable and long and sleek-looking, isn't he? ;)

We had two others before this Chaos/Clowder: Jack of Shadows, who was also 22 pounds. Jack was a very tall, big cat. He had a belly, but he was also a nearly two feet at the shoulder. Cooper was his buddy. Jack lived to be 20, Cooper lived to be 19 1/2. I miss then every day.

Yes, he's long and sleek. He's also my lap cat (he's sitting on my lap checking out the photos of your cats now.

Two feet at the shoulder! Holy cow! Was he a Maine Coon? I've not seen many other breeds of cats that get that big. My opie was tall but nowhere near that big. He was just a fat ass with a pin head.

You're lucky to have them live so long. Mine usually get to around 13-15 before kidney and liver failure take them out.

We have no idea what breed Jack was. He adopted us one rainy night. He was a short-haired cat, but his fur was incredibly dense. He had the cheeks of a British Cobby, but that was as far as I could tell. He was completely black, with white whiskers.

Liver failure took Jack from us, too. It's very hard, isn't it?

How big is Fearghal, and how does he defy gravity like that?

So Jack was just a moose disguised as a cat. Got it. Yes, liver failure is tough because you try and try to fix them and in the end have to do the inevitable.

Fearghal is 14 lbs so not overly large. The vet wants him to lose weight but we don't mess with that because he has a weak stomach and doesn't over eat. He's our climber. He likes to hang on top of the 1/2" wide shower rail while we're showering. He's got the most incredible balance of any cat I've ever had. His litter was abandoned at birth in a dumpster and we adopted him at 5 weeks old from the lady who rescued them. She used to wash them in the shower every day - hence his love of water and shower stalls.

Sorry, bad joke.
It's OK. No hard feelings.

The whole pet thing has always puzzled me anyways. Their seems to be a kind of hierarchy when it comes to animals and the way people treat them. Most people think dogs are like family members. But if a guy has fish then people don't even consider them pets. I guess because they don't bark in the middle of the night or shit on the carpet?

FWIW, I guess I'm guilty too. When I had my huge reef tank. A couple of the fish losses I'd had did make me sad. But I do believe theres an attachment difference usually for most people. My shepherd going down last year first time I've sobbed in memory. Dead fish I'm angry/sad a bit but I'm over it by day 2 or 3. Granted that's a dozen reef rish vs one huge PACU which I know could be easier to put more individual focus on.

Really need to send to my computer my other pets. 4 Cresteds, Tegu, Ackie.

[Beer]

If it bites your finger when you stick it in the tank, it's a pet.

Here you go Bob, you can make fun of my old fish if you want. (I can't find the picture of the one that died and we took a picture on a plate). This guy was awesome though.

Back when I was into fish, we had an Oscar, it grew to be a a big sucker. and had a bad habit of trying to jump out of the tank.
and was successful on several occasions. But mostly managed to knock the light into the tank. Couldn't figure out how it never got electrocuted.
I came home one day, and there it was dead & stiff on the carpet.

Yep, iggies the both of them. They're both on the larger side for IGs but if you saw them next to a whippet they're still quite a bit smaller. We get whippets a lot when we're all out walking them.

Recent pic of Ziva, only pup I've ever allowed on the furniture-and that's just the old couch in the family room. She's 5 now, wonderful dog-very loving, especially of the 2.5 yr old grandson. She's protective of the house but once she knows someone's good to go she turns into a cuddle monster. Weighs about 65 lbs.

I adopted her from the Dumb Friends League 4 years ago. When I took her to my vet she felt Z is a mix between a Rottie and a Lab.

Unlike a Lab she hates water but loves snow. Her coat sheds water/snow very quickly and then she's dry.

Thundersquirrel, I kind of though you already had the family pet picture up for all to see.

Thanks, she's a great pup. She does have aggression issues with small dogs-except puppies and my son and his wife's Puggle. Medium and big dogs she's great with. A friend just adopted a 3 yr old Mastiff/Boxer mix, 120 lbs, and Z is in love lol.

The lab is my best ever dog, the little gsd is for the kids.

GSD puppies are so damn cute. Then they hit that stage where their ears are about 4 months ahead of the rest of their bodies. Mine looked like a 50 pound rabbit for awhile.

GSD also known as land sharks at that age.

He gets one month of constant kennel rest and 2 weeks of tramadol.
He's in good spirits when the tramadol kicks in, right before it knocks him out.
