Since the rabbits weren't too plentiful today, my friend and I spent the morning demo-ing different ammo with my CZ 455 .22LR and my new-ish Surefire Ryder 22A suppressor. This is my first attempt to attach a video so I hope it works!

I recall during the .22lr steel dog matches, there were times when no one could tell the shooter had fired. Sometimes I could hear the firing pin hit the case, but not hear the round actually fire.

I took my daughter out last week and we ran some of the CCI Quiets through a Remington 514, no suppressor. Sort of makes me rethink the whole idea of air rifles [Flower]

My niece absolutely loved shooting the CZ with the suppressor and the quiet ammo. Virtually no recoil and it really helped her confidence to be able to hit the target with some serious accuracy looking through the scope.

This is from our trip to the indoor range last week. We were shooting at 50 feet. The single hole near the top center of the paper is mine--5 shots through the same hole. The rest of the groups are hers. Pretty cool. It's fun to be an uncle.

Next time you go out call me. I'll bring some 223, 22 mag and 22 LR suppressed bolt actions.

I guess it's time to get my bolt action 22 threaded. It seems like my 10/22 is much louder. Probably just the gases coming back through the bolt as it slides back and forth. But that is great.

Yep, there are a couple things you can tweak on a 10/22 to make it a bit quieter when shooting suppressed, but you'll never get as quiet as a bolt-action. I've been thinking about picking up a bolt demo gun soon too...

There are several different types of 10/22 Bolt Locks made that will hold the bolt closed while you are shooting. I made one and it helped a lot. The one I made was inconvenient to use but it proved to me it would be worth getting a good one.

Thanks.

Keep your hand or finger on the bolt charging handle when shooting. It stops the bolt from cycling. OR use subsonics, they have a 50/50 chance of cycling the bolt.

For all the 10/22 things one could do , buy one of the Ruger Americans in 22 with the threaded bbl. You'll wonder why it took so long to buy one.

Thanks.

I did the Kidd buffer when I changed a few other things, seemed like it helped a little, but it won't be "bolt quiet". There are a couple bolt locks as mentioned above if you want to go that route - one listed below.
