Doc45 Jr (how I refer to my older son) just signed on for 6 more years in the Army National Guard. He's an E6 Flight Medic, 12 years in (10 as a Combat Medic) 3 deployments under his belt. We had a long talk last night after he told me. He and his wife had a long hard heart to heart before he decided on Saturday.

He felt like he wasn't done, still has more to give. This will take him to 18 total which should put him on track to have a 20 yr. retirement. He's also a Flight Medic in the non-mil world and loves it.

I'm damn proud of all he's accomplished, a tad apprehensive for what lies ahead (they have the most wonderful 2 yr old little boy and hope for more kids).

My younger son (Doc45 III) couldn't go for health reasons and is quite the great son in his own right.

I'm a lucky man to have two wonderful sons. Just had to share.

Thank him for us. A lot of good men (and women) are not re-upping because of this corrupt CIC and the shenanigans he's pulled on our military.

We need good people there to stand against should things go way bad ... and to help rebuild once this NIC ... er CIC is replaced with an American.

You should be very proud of your sons and the great job you and your wife did raising them to be such good young men.

Please thank your son for his service. It's heartwarming to know he's doing what he loves.

Now correct me if I'm wrong but I believe if you re-up you're crazy, re-up you're outta your mind

Thank you all very much. From the time they were 9 & 5 I was responsible for the majority of their upbringing.

The older son said he's excited about moving from being "the guy" in the lead to mentor to those less experienced coming up.

Congrats -- there's an old Chinese saying about the leaf falling close to the roots. Your son clearly has good roots.

Congrats. Hopefully the next Commander and Chief knows what the military is all about and what it is used for and not a social experiment.

Lucky maybe, great parenting definitely. Well done to your son and to you.
