I just don't believe this arsehole is doing this. No...wait...yes, yes I do believe he's doing it.
Soooo...it's ok to assume guilt until proven innocent for people on a government watch list but not those coming from countries where terrorists are known to originate. In other words, guilty until proven innocent is ok as long as it's the Democrats who get to choose. That's the message here.
Let me remind everyone that the late Senator Ted Kennedy was on the No Fly list. I wonder if he would support what the CT Governor is suggesting. Would make more sense to ban Kennedy from renting cars but that's another matter altogether.
Excerpt:
"We intend to prevent, by executive order through my powers as governor, those on government watch lists from obtaining a permit to purchase a firearm in Connecticut," the Democratic governor said in a news conference Thursday.
"The executive order would add an additional level of protection and require those who apply for a permit to be screened against government watch lists," Malloy said during the news conference.
The governor is seeking access to some federal watch lists and his executive order would prevent anyone on them from buying a handgun, shotgun, rifle or ammunition in the state.
People who are denied would have the option to appeal.
"I have been in touch with the White House directly on this matter and we are working with federal authorities to gain access to their lists for this purpose," Malloy said.
He said his administration is working with the federal government to determine the appropriate lists to be included — from the no-fly list to a combination of those who should not have weapons.
The governor said the executive order will take effect as soon as he receives federal approval to obtain the lists.
"If approved, we will sign an executive order. We will take action. Like all Americans, I've been horrified by the recent terrorist attacks in California and Paris. This should be a wake-up call for all of us. This is a moment to seize here in America, and today, I am here to say in Connecticut, we are seizing this moment," Malloy said.

He's not wrong about seizing the moment.

This is turning into a country that I don't want my son to grow up in. That is tyranny at it's finest.

It plays well in liberal enclaves like the east coast. Lets see if the media runs with the story , when his daughter in law gets turned away at the United Express gate .
The real problem is America (in general) wants to feel safe. Unfortunately they want to .gov to tuck them in at night, instead of taking the safety of their family upon them self.
Until the federal .gov gets serious about illegals, open borders and keeping middle eastern "refugees" who just happen to be male, military age Muslims out of here. The notion of no-fly / no-buy is fuckied.
The other part of this equation conveniently ignored is, that silly Denied without Due Process.
Once "we" are comfortable with it. WE will wake up to find the 2nd has been gutted in the name of National Security.

I see a court challenge in CT's future.
Yup, and given the level of accuracy on the No Fly list (~20% of people on the list were placed on it in error), it'll happen sooner rather than later. Maybe this would be a good thing, because it might lead to a challenge of the whole no fly list, and the process whereby one ends up on it.

Does that mean the 72 people within DHS that are on the list can't carry within CT?
or is that the watch list vs the "no fly" list?
how many DHS employees are on the "no fly" list?

The intelligence and moral outrage of the left is beyond staggering.
REMEMBER
The same people who condemn Stop and Frisk because they feel it's racial profiling
Have No Issue denying a person their right to own a firearm, based on some arbitrary program.

This times 10. The hypocrisy of the left is astounding.

Someone with my same first and last name but different middle initial is on the no fly list. It has made it difficult for me at times.
No worries here, we will all end up on a "watch" list

Let me guess - they tell you that you need to contact multiple .gov agencies to get the appropriate paperwork to prove you aren't the person they're supposed to be watching.
Colorado denied me when I tried to renew my divers license a few years ago because some idiot in PA with the same name had an outstanding traffic ticket. They said until I could prove I wasn't that person, I couldn't get a license. They had nothing on the guy except a name. No height, weight, SSN, nothing. I had just gotten out of a colonoscopy and wasn't in the mood to be ass raped for the second time that day so I started screaming about Constitutional rights and asked how DMV had the right to assume my guilt without proof. To get me out of their hair, they gave me a short term renewal that lasted until after I moved to Texas where I didn't have to fight the idiocy.
So yeah, it concerns me that the .gov puts people on these lists without anything more than a name thereby affecting everyone with the same name. I admit that when I first heard people on the terror watch list could buy firearms I thought, "That's just insane!" And then I thought back to my DL fiasco and realized just how bad this idea is. I can't believe I almost fell for the stupidity.

I wouldn't be surprised if this whole board's membership isn't a list itself in some .gov database.

You better behave as I don't want to get on a list because they think I'm you. :D

I'm at the point in my life where I'd be disappointed if I'm NOT on such a list... like I don't matter. They should know I'm not happy with the shitty job they're doing at taking away our rights.. at least they could be competent at it. [dig]
If there's one thing I can't stand more than incompetence (or just not doing your job/ pulling your own weight), it would be downright dishonesty... at least tell me to my face you're going to bend me over and stick it up my tailpipe before you try... but no, they sneak buggery devices in my underpants when I'm not looking, and attempt to activate them remotely, hoping I won't notice.

Luckily so far all I have to do is always use my middle name or initial.

Probably, a good list for the communist members and a bad list for everyone else.
