View Full Version : I'm too damned fat

So, I'm currently too fat to comfortably carry IWB without buying a whole new wardrobe. I'm working on dropping about 15 pounds to get back to my normal weight, but in the meantime, I'm in the market for a decent OWB holster for a G26, and looking for suggestions (other than "Stop feeding your face, fatass!").[ROFL1]

I prefer leather construction for the most part, but I'm open to hybrids like the ones from Crossbreed (my IWB is a Liberty).

Fire away!

Good luck with the weight loss.

Give HBARleatherneck a shout. He can hook you up with a nice OWB holster.

Anyone want to do a weight-loss challenge? Take a pic of the scale as you stand on it for your first weigh-in, then take a pic of the scale every week for the next month or two? Whoever wins gets... the most weight dropped?

While I've never taken advantage of his services, I've heard nothing but rave reviews over his products - and I know his character. You can't deal with a better person and he'll get you exactly what you want/need.

Ha! Surprisingly I only lost a few pounds those days & got it right back so it was water loss from sneezing out my butthole & barfing up any attempts to replace what I was losing. No fun. I also missed 2 days of Crossfit. [pileoshit]

Ah! No, I have one of these. It holds the firearm at @ the 4:00 position. Otherwise, it'd be incredibly uncomfortable!

Bailey Guns
12-15-2015, 20:33
Even Mrs BG says it's her back. I've also never seen crossdraw appendix carry with the gun canted that way. That seems like it would be difficult to get a good shooting grip from that position.

This could be the new "what color is the dress" photo.

I'm guessing that they were also running.

Appendix is abdominal. The corset pictures are closer to kidney carry.

TheGrey
12-15-2015, 21:54
Well, I have seen it called both 'appendix' and 'kidney' carry. I honestly don't know what this would be called. There are videos that show the placement. Here's one:

Seriously, it does look more like 4:30 or 5:00 ish carry.

TheGrey

So, 4:00-4:30 carry is Appendix carry?

And 4:30-5:00 is Kidney carry?

Location, Location, Location ;)

Jer
12-15-2015, 22:03
Appendix carry is definitely front carry & not rear. Think of where you see an appendix removal scar... on the front stomach/waste usually at about 2 'clock. I've never heard to it referred to as 'kidney carry' for the back but that makes sense too. Usually it's easier to refer to it like a clock since it's a more universal descriptor. So this corset or 'kidney carry' would be 5 o'clock.

I don't ever recall seeing an appendix removal scar, but what you're stating makes complete sense.

Because the firearm is canted, I was thinking "4:30" for the location of the top of the gun.

11 o'clock. Which I think would be appendix carry for a lefty but I do believe I've only see appendix carry used to describe a right handed person carrying at 2 o'clock. In other words, your appendix is on the same side regardless of right or left handed so I would say that appendix carry refers specifically to 2 o'clock. Otherwise, just refer to it as the hands on a clock with 3 o'clock being on your right hip and so on and people will know what you're talking about. Getting loose with phrasing can get confusing which has been demonstrated in this thread.
