View Full Version : E2 or not E2, that's the question

I have a Sig 226 that currently wears Hogue finger groove grips. I've never been a fan of those, as it makes an already large grip even larger. (I have medium size hands.) Clearly I could buy OEM checkered or stippled grips for it, but the E2 grip sounds interesting. I hear they are a colossal pain to remove, though. Does anyone here know where a local Denver shop may have E2 pistols in stock? Anywhere local sell the grip kits? Thanks!

I had the E2 grips on a 229. My take is they are ugly but very comfortable and grippy. Installing and removing them is easy. They pretty much just snap on and off. Of course, I have the factory Sig tool so maybe that's why I found it simple.

Some place like 5280 Armory probably has Sig pistols in stock with the E2 grips if you were wanting to fondle them.

See if you can shoot a SIG with the E2 grips before you decide.

I have and didn't like them. I agree on the Hogue grips being on the large side. There are some other thin grips I would like to try, but for the money, I keep the OEM grips on my P229.

Thanks guys. I'll check out 5280 and maybe bristlecone. FWIW, I tried the Sig wood grips and they were way too thick.

I have small hands and found I actually liked the feel of the handgun with the E2 grips. I mostly just didn't care for the looks. Also, the texture is almost sandpaper like. Makes it very grippy but some people might find it a bit abrasive.

They are butt-ugly, that's for sure. I love the look of the late model stippled ones better than the period correct checkered ones. (Mine is a West German one.)

I don't think VZ makes grips for the Sig but if they did that's what I'd get. I think Hogue makes something similar to the VZ's.

I do not like the e2 grips at all, I will even pass on buying a sig with them on it.

I like the original grips and was really impressed with the G10 grips, I would love to have a set of those and will probably buy some after I am done spending money elsewhere :)

Yeah, no VZ's for classic Sigs. The G10s look interesting. Are they rough textured?

I am not sure on how to describe it exactly, they grip well, and shoot well, I thought they might be a little rough on my tender hands but they were really comfortable, of course I only put a mag down range. LOL

I like grips that leave an imprint in my hand. Most of the VZ lineup does that. Not sure how the texture is on the Hogues.

I've got Wilson/VZs on my B92A1 and really, really like them. The G10s have a variety of grip patterns, too. I'd like to see/feel them in person before dropping a c-note on them.
