Wow! I wonder what Demo serial number 1 is worth. Very cool piece of history. Historical pieces are always so much cooler with the proper context.

History....love it. Thank you for the read. Lol, only place you could get a typewriter and a 1911. Classic.
Wish my 1911 was $23.92. Inflation of over 1219% sucks.

Nice little read there, thanks. I would guess that the majority of the 1911s that will one day be offered by the CMP will be Remington Rand and then Colt.
Once upon a time,I owned a Singer .45 acp 1911. If I knew then what it could be worth,,never would have sold it for. $350,,,,in 1986

That is a nice little read. I have my Grandpa's Remington Rand and really want to do something with like a shadow box on the wall or something.

Don't. It'll be the first thing stolen in a break-in. You can't have anything nice these days.
Nice read. Now I need to keep an eye out for one more collectible.

That guy (1911collector on Reddit) has MANY astonishingly rare and valuable pistols. Just based on what he's posted publicly on Reddit, his collection is worth well north of $100k.

And no doubt he has a whole lot more that he's keeping to himself....

Great read.
Thanks for posting it.
Very interesting article for me. As I've posted here once before I have demonstration model serial #146. Prior to running across this one most books said either 145 or 150 were made. Since I have #146 (it has been verified as correct by a few well know collectors) most seem to think the number made is 150.
great article, thanks for the posting!
^^^^Very lucky man! Post more pics up. Anyone have a Singer?
Awesome!

You can quickly drop it in the safe or pull it out for display. I missed my chance on the Colt Collector's Show that came through here a few years back. They had a Colt logo'd version.
