So I recently downloaded the entire series Cowboy Bebop and have been re-watching it.

It's been at least 15 years since I watched it originally (came out in '98) and I'm about a third of the way through the series again (it only lasted one season ... plus one movie ... which ironically reinforces the next paragraph).

I never at the time realized it but I'm amazed just how much it influenced Firefly (or for the more cynical among us how much Joss Whedon stole from Cowboy Bebop ... and that's not a criticism It was either Pablo Picasso or TS Elliot ... or someone else who said "Good Artists Copy; Great Artists Steal").

Anyway I know there's several Firefly fans here so I wonder of those of you that have watched both, if you see the similarities too.

I've been looking for Cowboy Beebop on my Roku because I remember liking it when I saw it on Cartoon Network back in the day. Where did you find it? I know it's on Funimation, but I haven't checked to see if I have to pay for that channel yet.

Anyway, only one season and one movie are good to know. I go through occasional anime binges.

Torrented from the dark, dank recesses of teh interwebs.

Ahhh, I recently received a strongly worded letter about that and have cut it out for the time being.

This is why I recommend Century Link over Comcast. :p

If you were closer I'd recommend you swing by with a thumb drive or external (weighs in at close to 20GB with the movie).

Apparently its on Hulu (or Hulu+?) http://www.hulu.com/cowboy-bebop

Yep that was a good one, good music too. My set is about 60-70GB, but if you can't find it easier online, I'm sure I could hook you up too.

Oh I can get it if I want to. I just happened to be browsing my Roku the other day and looking at everything on the Funimation channel. There is a decent amount of Anime on Netflix as well. My wife is obsessed with RoboTech.

They have pills that would eliminate the need for outsourcing.

There is a Crunchyroll channel for Roku too. https://channelstore.roku.com/details/2595/crunchyroll

I've got Crunchyroll (I think) as well as the Manga channel.

If you think Cowboy Bebop was an inspiration for Firefly check out a series called Outlaw Star. The marketing campaign Fox ran for Firefly made it look like almost the same show. Of course the marketing totally missed the real tone of the show but that's another sad story.

Ghost in the Shell live action movie? Scarlett Johannsen?

Go on...

EDIT: Probably should have quoted the above poster.

I love Cowboy Bebop... Watched it back when it was on the original Adult Swim (2005?). I also loved Ghost in The Shell: SAC, and Wolf's Rain. Wanna get back into that. And a live action film? Hell yes. I hope they don't screw it up.

I preferred "Ghost in the Shell: SAC", "Noir", and "You're Under Arrest". Also a big fan of "Rurouni Kenshin", "Kimagure Orange Road", and "Bubblegum Crisis".
