View Full Version : Douglas precision rifle match interest
Competition Dynamics is gauging interest for a "local style" one day match at their Douglas Facility. (June -August) Format similar to the Sporting Rifle Match (Raton). Single day match, round count approx 60. Hike and Shoot format.
If you would definitely shoot the match or be pretty interested. Post up here or post up on their Facebook page letting them know!

Have it the 2nd Sat/Sun of the month. I'll be there.
Word is the T3 match is no go for this year, guess most of the regulars from that match would shoot it also.
Where is the "Douglas" facility?
Private land in Douglas Wy

If I'm around :) i will be there
YES PLEASE!
I'd be game for two weekends a month even- love that place! There is something strangely fun about holding triple value wind++
Thanks for posting this here, it is hard to understand why CD would use Farcebook?
Don't price it like the T3 match and I bet there will will be plenty of takers.
Hell YEAH! I'd shoot that match every chance I get! I'll throw in another vote for 2nd weekend of the month -that'll fill the big hole we were left with after the loss of the T3 match, and not conflict with any of the other local CO matches! I REALLY hope this comes together!!!!

Oh yes please. Would make sense to have the match early on a Sunday morning. That way we can drive up on Saturday and spend the night (like we do for Raton)

Yes, I'd definitely be interested.
A definite maybe here, depending on schedules and cost, and if I'm honest, the hiking distance. I hope the T3 rumor is false!

I'll be there if second weekend of each month. You guys should also plan on May and September, as I beleive there would be interest those months also.

Lots of interest! That's awesome!
I will pass along all the comments to Competition Dynamics. Between this thread and CD's facebook post, there is a ton of interest in this happening!
I will post updated info as I receive it.
I posted on the hide -just trying to spread the word. There's a couple responses over there from guys who are not on this forum or on Facebook...

If the price is reasonable I could see this match absolutely killing it!! Very excited to see where this goes!

Interested
Never shot a match or competition but I'm interested.
Sounds like fun. Sunday also sounds like a good idea to me (arrive/sign in/sight in on Saturday).
Cost would be a big thing for me. $100 (like the T3 match) is too much for me, especially if we're talking about a 3+ hour drive from Denver and a night in a hotel. That's not to say I wouldn't shoot it at $100/entry, but I would only do it once a year instead of quite possibly more.

I live in the Loveland area & it wouldn't be a bad drive, I'm in!
As long as the match fee isn't 100 dollars I'm game.
New member and heard about this but took forever to get activated to post. I would be interested in this as well, with the T3 matches being unknown at this time (which is sad) they were a great venue and I shot them often over the years, the distance was better at the last couple of matches and I would hope that these would not be like the ones at Douglas a couple hrs ago as if they are I would have to pass. Anyway please be sure to post what you decide

The T3 match up in the air does suck. Paul and Zach put on a great match.
Bas402 are you referring to the monthly match that was held up their a couple times a few years back? Those were ran by Justin if I'm remembering right.
I will post up when I hear more from Competition Dynamics.
Austin , 338 like Justin allowed ?
Looks like the match is a go and its on the CD schedule for June 19, July 24, and Aug 14. Looks like $80 if you register well in advance, and $100 on the day of...

Yes, it was a good match but to long of a hike under the time restraints for an old guy like me
Scotty, do you happen to know if the course is K or UK distances? The thread does mention this that I can find.

Being the format is squaded, I'd assume known distance or at the very least, no rules against sharing info as it's pretty tough to keep it un-known beyond the first shooter or two when the rest of the squad is pulling RO duties.
Thanks for update. Looks like it the June date should be JUNE 19
YUP! ...typo -my bad… Thanks for catching that! I'll go back and edit….
Sounds good to me. Looking forward to June now.......
As soon as I'm back from Shot, I'll make a new match thread and put all the match info there as well as the updates as I get them!

Great Match. Similar to Raton Sporting Rifle Match with some different terrain. Had about 50 shooters split into 10 squads. 10 Stages along a dirt road (which is actually the landowners driveway). Eight of the ten stages had 5 targets from 300-800 yards. One stage had 10 targets. The last stage had 5 targets which you shot prone and then sitting/kneeling for a total of 10 shots. So a total of 60 shots for the match. Four minute time limit per stage. Challenging but lots of fun with some very good shooters in beautiful country.
Big thanks to CD, Burris Optics, AA targets, Why Not Ranch and everyone else that helped out!!! (sorry if I left anyone out)

It was a great match, things moved along, and with 50 shooters we shuttled guys to keep the timing on track. I would not EXPECT this at every match UNLESS there are 50+ shooters there again.
Burris Optics really stepped up and gave us some huge support, and also gave away some really cool product at the drawings as well.
Thanks Burris Optics, and it was great to see the whole office there!
Expect the same thing for the remainder of the matches at the Burris Optics Douglas Rifle Match.
Be there In July and August!
