....but we are moving to Littleton. After some fairly significant life changes, we are in a position where we really need to buckle down and cut out some expenses. Daycare has gotten to the point where it's cheaper for my wife to stay home with the kids than work, so between that and the 50 miles a day we each spend in fuel cost, it only makes sense. I'll be going from 25 miles one way to 6 miles one way, and she'll only be driving as needed, along with our rent going down by $200 a month.

We will be off of Federal between Bowles and Belleview, so right by the Platte and downtown Littleton. I know the area can be sketchy (Essex motel), but it can't be much worse than 104th and Washington. I know the area has a lot going for it, so I'm excited about that, but definitely not looking forward to the actual moving part. At least I'm going to be closer to RFB, Ark, and Damage factory.

Good luck with everything, I had to do something similar about three years ago.

I'm just to the east of that area by 10 minutes, big fan of old downtown Littleton. Hope everything works for you guys.

When you move, just get one Big Azz rental truck and make only one trip. It is much easier than making multiple trips with pickup trucks.

You'll like it down here, and you're not to far from the Dietz memorial and the South site for plinking. Short hop to the Springs and some good gun shops this way.

Welcome!

On a side note, if you guys know anyone in that area needing a sitter during the day, my wife would like to keep our boys socializing, and is thinking about picking up a child or two for a reasonable cost.

Depending on traffic, it's only about 15 minutes from Bowers too. Swing by some time. Haven't seen you since the Parker days.

Didn't know such a thing existed, I'll have to pass it on to the wife.

No way I'd take my child to a home with guns.

Good choice. I made the same decision to move so the wife could stop working and raise the kids as well. It was the right thing to do, family first. Kids are grown and infused with "our" values since toddlers and have their heads on straight.

Well done sir!

Thanks for the positive words, I'm excited for the new direction. In fairness, we absolutely love our sitter and her family, and we've become very good friends, that being said, she was cutting us a great deal and finally had to raise the price to stay in the business. We are hoping to pay it forward and cut someone a good price, as any income my wife brings in will just be extra.

Good luck! We were in the same boat 8 years ago...my youngest. Between driving around and both of us working we decided it was cheaper for her to stay at home with the kids. Best decision we ever made and have no regrets.

Shameless plug... :D

Just read the first article, think I'll check out the rest. Fortunately at this point I'm only at the "paying on a few credit cards" and "a car note" stage, if we don't make this move tho, that may not be the case in the future. I like my job, so not looking to work for myself or anything like that. I would like to have zero credit card balances, a nice savings cushion, and annual vacation money, which is where I was before the kids lol, oh well I wouldn't trade them for the world.

It's mostly about learning how to spend way less money so there is more available for savings.

My wife staying home was the best decision our family has ever made. Very scary at first, but it has been awesome for all of us.

Well the move is complete as of Saturday, didn't exactly go smooth, but we are here now and getting settled in. We are loving the area so far, and there is tons of stuff to do.

We'll gladly accept recommendations for best pizza and best Mexican food (we are near Federal and Belleview). Planning to try "Toast" asap, as you guys gave it rave reviews. Loving the 10 minute drive to work!

Congrats on the move.

Just ate at this pizza place a couple weeks ago and everyone loved it. The service (I think it was the owner) was great as well. Not cheap but not the most expensive either, they're also opening a location in the Springs.

Funny you'd suggest Walters, I just drove by there earlier and thought to myself "we need to try that place", I'll definitely add it to the list. One good thing about moving is all the new places you can try.

Welcome to the south side... You're a few mins away from many of us. I don't think moving closer ark, rfb, and bowers is a good way to save money

Kinda suprises me that Littleton is that much cheaper. Guess I'm pretty out of the loop as far as housing costs goes...apparently 5 points is on it's way to not being a ghetto anymore. I had no idea.

I actually think the area is more expensive for the most part, but the apartment complex we moved into is an older complex right in the middle of a few much newer gated complexes, so naturally they can't charge as much. Personally I don't mind being in a place built in '85, as I think they are built a lot better than the newer buildings, plus the interiors were completely updated recently. Besides, ya can't get a wood burning fireplace in the newer apartments!

Wow, I can't believe I just saw this thread. I'll wave when I drive by every morning on the way to work.

Las Delicias seems to be a pretty popular Mexican restaurant - SE corner of Broadway and Arapahoe, and El Tepehuan on the north side of Broadway just north of Hampden is pretty good.

Yeah we haven't done any deals lately, now I'm closer lol. I've had Las Delicias in Parker and enjoyed it, didn't realize there was one this close, thanks for the heads up!
