That type of social control and manipulation isn't much of a surprise coming from a communist country. Most Americans keep thinking that our social and economic values or practices should apply globally. That is a pretty naive stance given that every country has their own way of doing things and government model.

The harsh reality is that most Americans don't give a flying shit about what happens outside of the US as long as the low cost goods keep flowing into the US from those countries.
