Don't get me wrong, I am no Bill Ruger. I don't think that we can or should concede anything to the anti crowd.

That being said I wonder if there are ways that we shouldn't advertise guns?

For example the new Badger Ordnance M134 Compact rifle (Thread for rifle here: LINK (https://www.ar-15.co/threads/153768-Badger-M134-compact-rifle?p=1948446#post1948446)). The video is really well done, good production values, soundtrack, great teaser for the rifle. I didn't think anything of it until I scrolled down to the comment section.

Wow! Advertising how useful your weapon would be if somebody needed to be murdered. What a brilliant marketing strategy!

I noticed a similar comment on the article that linked me to the video, that one compared it to a suppressor manufacturing making a video of a mob boss being wacked over his plate of spaghetti.

It got me thinking: Are they ways we should and should not advertise firearms/accessories/training? Again not to say that any advertising isn't going to piss off the anti's, but some sensitivity might not hurt?

Well, to be honest, the only gun advertising I see is on the internet, gun magazines and when I watch the outdoor channel. Each manufacturer will need to evaluate their own marketing strategy and apply it as they see fit. If it does not work for them to sell guns, they will quickly go another route. I don't know about showing some guy or gal with a scary "assault" rifle gunning down a home invader but I did like the Crimson Trace commercials I watched.

I think those that make a big deal out of it are not in the market anyway but an image perceived is an image achieved.

I think the types of people that watch these advertisements and comment negatively, actually seek out the ads for the sole purpose of trashing firearms, and it's likely a very small percentage of anti's.

They could show any manner of illegal and dangerous behavior with their products they wish. All they need is a disclaimer at the bottom saying they are professionals on a closed range and nothing shown should be attempted by anyone else. That seems to work for the auto manufacturers.

I think it goes both directions. Some reject any attempt at PC and their clientele soaks up the hardcore...say Noveske. Other companies try to appeal to the female shooter and have stockholders...say S&W. Hardcore gun folks could care less as they look at the product features.

I met a man who owns a ton of S&Ws (over 300), hates Colt and hates Noveske. He claims to have fired a ton of rounds...when we started talking numbers, it is maybe 2000 in his entire life. He is a millionaire who collects guns, does not really shoot them. When I told him we shot 2000 rounds in a weekend his mouth literally fell open. He loves the S&W marketing.

It doesn't matter how you advertise...there will always be anti-gun individuals who will try and find fault with it.

And yet here we are talking about Badger Ordnance. That's what you call a win in advertising.

FUCK THOSE PC Snowflake douche bag, gun grabbers.

Ad's and advertising for same sex massage parlors is acceptable, according to the newspaper (Den Post) Yet......gun ads are not ok, as it sends a negative message. Especially when "children" may come across such ads. [pileoshit]
