No prescreened questions, just a straight up debate with a moderator they both agree on.

I don't see any way this happens but I think I would be willing to pay to see it.

This would be a direct response to Obammers saying that the NRA was invited to the town hall but declined.

My guess is the NRA suspected it was an ambush- because they trust the POSOTUS as much as we do.

Not that it would matter, but the NRA could always do the "empty chair debate" similar to Clint Eastwood at the 2012 GOP Convention.

Amen. They wouldn't walk into a fight on enemy ground, where Anderson Cooper was hosting, and be outnumbered. I'm still shocked they invited Taya Kyle and the rape victim from CO- probably to say "see, we brought folks out who have opposing views." No sense in going into a contest you can't win when the other team doesn't play by the rules.

This. But I have seen some people who have turned away from Obama who used to support him. There aren't many, but there are still some (my fiancé for instance- she voted for Obama, and now she can't stand him, it's really the biggest regret of her life).

It would be greet for this debate invite to get some press. To show the nra wants to debate him on neutral ground. To show Obama is a true pussy and can't face facts when confronted with them.

'We Like Shooting' had a NRA Board member on this week and he explained. The NRA was allowed to attend, but was required to submit one question for screening. They knew they wouldn't get anywhere so decided to avoid the dog and pony show instead.

Which all very much illustrates where debate / discourse is in this country. It isn't exactly Lincoln / Douglas anymore.
