Looks like a mans wife accidentally shot him with a rifle at Magnum Shooting Center this morning. Guess the man had severe injuries that were not life threatening.
Probably something she always wanted to do!
j/k. Glad he will be okay

LOL!! You are probably more correct than you know. I called a friend that works there when I seen the news. He said it was pretty stupid what she did, but would not elaborate any further. The news said he shot himself and didn't even mention her.
Hope it wasn't this guy.

You don't know some of the members here very well then, have you seen the mass hysteria when there is an "outage"? Hard-core bunch here.

So I'm seeing a lot of negative comments here, understandably so due to the poor reporting on the behalf of kktv 11 news. A woman was shooting a .22 S&W handgun, a fired casing bounced off the divider separating the shooting cubbies and went down her shirt, while the hot fired casing was burning her, she used her left hand to try and get the casing, then used her right hand, the one holding the gun to open the bottom of her shirt to let the casing fall out, at the same time the gentleman stepped up to her left side to help her and the gun went off shooting him in the leg. An obvious accident. I was told no charges are being filed. Please be respectful and get the whole story before assuming the worst. And KKTV 11 News, you should really make sure you have all the facts before reporting something like this.

Gosh . . . do I feel stupid assuming it was something irresponsible, when it was just someone trying to manipulate their shirt while holding a gun with the same hand with a finger on the trigger.

Same thing happen at Bristlecone the week before last. Gal was in a booth shooting and had a hot piece of brass go down her shirt. She reaches for shirt with both hands and points pistol downward at the divider wall and fires off a round.
Where it gets lucky is the dude shooting with her was in booth against divider. Her shot went right between the guys legs. Bullet is still lodged in the acrylic divider. He is one luck dude to still have his junk intact.
People really need to think about attire before they go shooting. Nothing makes me shake my head more than some chump in sandles or flip flops with hot brass raining down on his feet.

Completely agree, gun safety goes much further than just knowing your target, finger off the trigger, etc.
Well endowed ladies should consider revolvers.
Well endowed ladies should go shooting with Rondog.
Fixed that for ya!

Man, I know how this guy feels. Always make sure the woman is wearing a turtle neck. It happens so fast, there is little to be done. Everything should be done beforehand to make sure this situation doesn't arise.

Wait so she had one of them guns that go off? Which model S&W was this so I can ban it at my range, we have a strict zero tolerance policy on self shooting guns.
Brass ends up bouncing into wierd places. Even with good choices I've seen bread go up sleeves, balance on ledge of glasses, and more.
Yes it fucking burns. Still have presence of mind and force of will to put the flipping gun down first then focus on relief

I dont recall you have a rack either.
The size of my man-boobs has nothing to do with whether or not fired .22 brass is hot. Centerfire handgun brass? Hot. Centerfire rifle brass? Dangerously hot.

It's that hot brass loophole I tell you !!!
I can verify that .22 brass can be hot enough to leave a scar when it goes somewhere you can't immediately remove it.

Beg to differ. I had a .22 case come under the bill of my hat, hit my forehead and drop down behind my glasses, coming to rest trapped between the bottom of my glasses and my face. I had a burn.
I had a burn because of the time it took to put the gun down before I tried to remedy the situation. This is a good thing. :)

My eight year old daughter had a case go down her shirt out at Pawnee. It left a burn mark, but she didn't flag any of us and kept her muzzle down range while she jumped around. Of course she has been taught how dangerous it would be to turn around with a loaded gun.

I don't disbelieve you. I've never had that kind of experience with a fired .22 casing.

I think the worst time to be at the range is just after Christmas, when every new person to guns shows there stupidity with there new gun and gift card. I was at a range two weeks ago and I guy had a guy in the lane next to me pull the trigger on a double barrel 38 derringer that his buddy loaded and handed to him, the thing jump out of his hand and landed on the floor behind me. I am not a range snob at all but I picked up my stuff and walked out and told the counter person I wanted my money back. It wasn't just because of just that but I had been watching the cameras as I was standing in line and at, at least 4 lanes I saw some of the worst firearms handling I have ever seen. I know every range needs to keep there none member count up but they also need to think about every ones safety on the line.

I hope the guy isn't hurt too bad.
My sister-in-law had a piece of brass go down her shirt once. It was especially funny in that we were teasing her about the possibility before we left. We decided if the situation came up it would be up to my wife to help her out.

A lady at bristlecone did, this exact same thing, but her round hit the stall glass. Missed her leg and her partners lef by fractions of an inch.
Pan I totally agree with the statements above. The ranges have been a fucking disaster after Xmas. The shit I have witnessed has been amazing. And people even getting kicked out due to being overly stupid.
This week shooting, was annoying having target out at 20 yards, guy shooting at like 7yrds for some reason was shooting like the right most side of the target. Didn't think there was that much angle but when my target came back sure had 12 or 13 holes when I only loaded 10.
There are no accidental shootings, just poor safety practices.

I've had .22 casings fall behind my eye pro and rest on my cheek or go down my collar. Some of it can be damned hot although it usually cools off fairly quickly. The .45 is obviously worse but it can burn, especially when on very sensitive parts. It's happened to me so I've made a point about telling students in advance that IF it happens to them, the first thing they need to do is put the firearm down on table or other rest THEN take care of the brass.

Totally - I'd debated earlier about posting to point out that this was NOT an accidental shooting, but an unintentional negligent discharge, and ended up not posting it.
When I took a pistol class about a decade ago, I had a 45 casing from the guy next to me on the line freakishly lodge behind my eyepro and burn my eyelid, but retained the presence of mind to put down my pistol pointing downrange before attending to the searing pain inside my shooting glasses. 22 magnum isn't really enough to cause a bad burn, it was just a bit painful, and clearly distracting, and the woman was clearly not a very experienced or careful firearm handler.
There used to a top female IPSC competitor by the name of JoAnne Hall. For awhile in the 80s she lived with Ross Seyfried out in Roggin. I was out at the ranch day one day and she was practicing with her Wilson built .38 Super 1911. JoAnne was explaining how she learned early on not to wear v-neck t-shirts when shooting.

That's why I have every female that I take to the range wear a sports bra and leave your shirt untucked, that way the brass drops out. Tight sorts collect brass if you are not careful.

Well, the ladies don't call him "Uncle Dave" for nothing... ;)
What I tell my students is while keeping the muzzle downrange, grab your shirt and the hot brass with your support hand and pull it away from your skin. Now you have time to put the gun down if necessary.
Of course you never know what'll really happen until it does, but at least this advice gives them some kind of plan that they'll [hopefully] follow.

One reason I really like Whistling Pines (http://www.whistlingpinesgunclub.com/) down here in the 'springs -- members (and their guests) only. As a member you have a vested interest in the maintenance and safety of the club, so there's a lot of self-policing.
Not to say I haven't seen some stupid $#!+, but it's few and far between.
Last time I had to say something there was a really tall guy shooting with a very short woman next to me. The woman was doing great hits-wise on the target, but the guy had placed the target so high on the carrier that her rounds were passing through the target and hitting the top steel deflection plate, not the ground-rubber backstop. Initially defensive "All her hits are on the target!" I told him to crouch down to her height and look beyond the target. He said "Oh" and lowered the target for her.

When i was doing hand gun instruction. I made it a point for all female shooters, to wear anything other than V-neck, halter tops, low cut garments. Like eyes & ears, it's for their and everyone else safety.

I have been out there once, that was enough.
Rampart was always interesting. Once you got over the total mess, it wasn't bad on Monday or Tuesday morning at 0700. The weekend or weekday afternoons was a gamble on your life. When I did drive up, if the range had to many people, I just went up to Woodland Park and shot up there. Clean up weekends were always horrible and two weeks later it was just as bad. Our off roading club would usually hook up with some of the shooting clubs to get the job done. May have been up there with some of you fine people. I really started hating phone books after a couple clean up weekends. Those damn things make one hell of a mess.
Personally, I don't mind driving out to my little spot in Divide to shoot. Usually myself, and maybe one other person. Indoor shooting ranges are nice when it is cold out, but it has to be pretty cold. A week ago a buddy and I went out to Divide to dial in my Optic on the AR. It was 14* out when we arrived and 9* when we left. Had a great time, the depth of the snow had me a little concerned, but my Tundra had no issues.

Agreed. I always recommend topless for both safety and a discount.
