Email from the NRA-ILA:
On Thursday, January 14, California’s NRA-PVF “F”-rated Attorney General, Kamala Harris, announced her support of freshman Assemblymember David Chiu’s introduction of Assembly Bill 1663 (http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/15-16/bill/asm/ab_1651-1700/ab_1663_bill_20160114_introduced.pdf) in a press release. AB 1663 would expand the classification of “assault weapons” to include all detachable magazine semi-automatic rifles and any rifle that uses a “bullet button.1” Gun owners who possess these firearms would be required to register them as “assault weapons” or face potential felony penalties, arrest, and confiscation of the firearm. AB 1663 will also ban the future sale of these firearms.
On the same day, NRA-PVF “F”-rated Assemblymembers Marc Levine and Phil Ting introduced a second anti-gun bill, Assembly Bill 1664 (http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/15-16/bill/asm/ab_1651-1700/ab_1664_bill_20160114_introduced.pdf). AB 1664 would ban the use of a “bullet button.”
The use of a “bullet button” currently keeps semi-automatics with detachable magazines from being classified as an “assault weapon.” In banning the use of a “bullet button” the possessor will now have possession of what California law considers an “assault weapon.” With this being said, the possessor will have to register that firearm as an “assault weapon” or face potential felony penalties, arrest, and confiscation of the firearm. AB 1664 will also ban the future sale of these firearms.

Read that today as well. I left CA in 1997 and only come back when necessary.

I'll be heading out to California in March for about two months. That's about all I'll be able to handle of that place.

If you're coming my way, shoot me a PM.
I wonder how broad the detachable magazine aspect of that will go. Will it make "featureless* rifles" assault weapons? Hunting rifles that happen to have them? 10/22's?
The bullet button was born out of poorly written legislation so I wonder if it will go the other way this time and classify way more rifles as "assault weapons" than advertised. Only time will tell.
*For those of you who never lived in Cali I'll define a featureless build for you. If you had a fixed stock, no pistol grip, and a muzzle brake you could legally have a detachable magazine on AR's, AK's, etc.

We escaped California in the '70s. The place has changed so much in my lifetime that it's scary to think about how that can happen.

Heading to SoCal tomorrow morning for a week. Funeral on my wifes side of family and some business. Left in 92 and super glad I don't live there anymore.
These rules my friend are why my family moved out of California. Its easier for criminals to have these weapons then normal people. Their laws are bull Sh8t
These laws are why the lowest of the criminal element will ALWAYS have fully functioning weapons. Does anybody except demonrats believe that people, wanting to kill everyone in a room, will give two shits about the legality of bullet buttons, mag capacities, pistol grips or folding stocks?
Kali politicians keep taking the peoples rights away and they keep putting them back in power. I have such a hard time believing they can constantly put a majority voting block of stupid people together election after election. And yes I know, stuck on stupid is headed our way. It's just painful to watch.

I think in 90s they passed the point of caring about "gun violence" for the sake of public policy. It is now used to disarm one's political enemies knowing full well gun control will only encourage "gun violence."
Got to break a few eggs (defenseless victims) to make an omelet (gov monopoly on violence).

These are illegal in CA. At one time they were legal but have been added to the list over time.

I know your right, It's just so hard to believe the people keep letting it happen. I just wish I could understand so I can help to stop it here before it gets worse.

You can't stop it. They monopolized and indoctrinated education and immigration, to make sure you will always get outvoted.
Then they monopolized and intercept all forms of possible communication to make sure you can't "organize".
All you can do is accept that we are reduced to the same capability of bacteria living on the surface of a turd that is flushing down the bowl. The time to act was about ~40 years ago.
So then, what is the best way to fix the problem? I think most forum members are not content with bending over.

I've already made my thoughts known but people lack the courage/will. It is not too late, btw.
Fox is right about all votes being equal and being outnumbered. But not all voters are equal. Some produce a shit-ton more than others. Some are very necessary in the economy, some would never be missed, and others are net liabilities. And that's how this you fix this cluster, IMHO.

I've tried several times. Calguns folks have repeatedly given me very cold welcomes.
Tell them you're a native and just now found out about them from a local representative.
This is what happens when you have mass immigration of tens of millions of people who vote and support big goverment. Let that state be a reminder of what happens when leftist have permanent majority.

Are we still talking about CA, or did we shift to CO?

I just asked because I'm about 1/2 way through it and I can't help but see the abundant parallels between fact and fiction everywhere I look. I knew it was bad, but the book is a real eye-opener.

I am still on their list and I forward emails to friends and family in CA even though I am in CO. I try to support them as well as I can. It just keeps getting more and more crazy out there, something has to give soon, there can't be that many sheeple that will just roll over to the cartels.

I lurk on Calguns quite a bit. I think it's a pretty well organized and run forum. I'm glad I don't have to put up with what they go through to exercise my rights. A moderator on another forum posed the question, "Why do the efforts of gun rights advocacy groups meet so much resistance/futility?"

It was written by Rand who lived through the "radical transformation" we are seeing the US. Liberals, despite the name and the high opinion they have of themselves, offer nothing new or progressive. It's been tried and failed several times.
Their success at this point lies in producers being beaten all the time and hoodwinked into thinking they must stay in the system and continue producing on the collective's terms. That's just not true.
If producers withdrew it would force the collective to either make an overt claim on human beings (slavery) or honor free will (freedom) and individual rights.
So imagine if cattle ranchers stopped brining beef to market?

As in Atlas Shrugged, I would love to see this happen. Right now. Today. Before my kids have to grow up in a worthless society.

I still remember CHP doing a presentation at a safety stand down when I was stationed in the Whales Vag back in 2008. They basically told everyone that they won't pull you over for speeding unless you're doing at least 20 over, and it was true. Maybe it's changed since then, or maybe it's different up north. I know that was one of the few things I missed about being stationed in San Diego when I moved to Norfolk, VA.

Yeah... not true any more.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office (which is well known for not issuing any CCW permits, among other anti-Liberty things) have a local reputation of pulling people over and then fabricating a probable cause and finding some bullshit thing to write you up for, just to keep the revenue flowing. These are the guys that give the rest of law enforcement a bad name. [pileoshit]
Born in CA.
Removed myself from CA in 1992.
Have NO DESIRE to go back. Not even a little.
Left my parents and inlaws there. Still no desire to go back, they can fly or drive here to visit if need be.
The whole excuse by CA folks that "I can't leave because all my family and my wife's family is here" is pathetic.

Not entirely true. Colorado is getting more of a Commiepornia feel in general but Colorado Springs is somewhat of a hold-out (albeit backsliding).
The easy passage of a 1% sales tax increase to fund road maintenance was somewhat of a danger signal to me. I don't really care about 1% of anything but the way TPTB fought automatic sunsetting was a warning sign. It they were serious about it being a temporary bump to get past some needed maintenance now, they wouldn't have had a problem with the tax increase automatically sunsetting in 5-10 years with provision to renew. Instead, they wrote it to automatically renew unless specifically revoked.
OTOH, folks down in C Springs are still generally more resistive against encroaching government than up in the Denver area.

Kinda true... I got pulled over in SoCal with an acquaintance while we were motorcycling (sportbikes, at about 20mph > the limit) and my acquaintance adopted the tough-guy-F-cops attitude, I adoped the "yes, sir!" polite attitude. Acquaintance got the $300 ticket, I got off with a warning. The cop hadn't even talked to us separately.

Yep. I love Colorado. I really do. I fear that I'll have to learn to love some other state by the time I get to move back there. Colorado Springs was great, but Colorado is turning into a weird mix of Commiefornia, Illinois, and New York.

Here, even though this is supposed to be a dig on conservatives, if you take the time to listen to the whole thing, it might make you feel a bit better. It's a bit of an expose on the Koch brothers.

While this was something I supported I regret that Colorado was the first. When it is inevitably legalized at the national level I fear too many true potheads will have already migrated here.
CA is a lost cause. I wouldn't care, but their idiocy seems to be spreading here.
