OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!

http://iwi.us/TAVOR/TAVOR-B16-BLK.aspx

I could almost pee from the excitement!

Was trying to figure out how to add a Tavor to the stable this year and then they announce this.

It's been done already- but I'm sure you may have warranty issues after you swap a barrel

I should have one of those t-shirts that says "I void warranties"
I don't own a Tavor, but would be swapping barrels if I did. Maybe I can get a better deal on a 5.56 Tavor when someone wants a factory 300 Blackout [Coffee]

It better not be $900 like the 9mm conversion.

Must be trying to soften the impact the MDR is going to have on sales.

Love shooting my buddies SAR though, excellent handling rifles.

Yeah, I like the Tavor, but for the same price I could buy an AR upper in 300 BLK and a TON of ammo.

I love my Tavor and I love the 300BLK round. That being said, I don't get the draw.

The whole idea is a shorter and better balanced package that fires full speed rifle cartridges from a 16" barrel. IMO the 5.56 is THE round this platform was designed for and it's already where it shines. Pistol cartridges and 300BLK don't make sense in this platform IMO. If you want a pistol caliber then get something smaller/lighter overall. If you want 300BLK you'll likely want a shorter barrel anyway. I was on the wait list for that extension/suppressor combo for the Tavor 9mm and when I got the call that they were ready for purchase I was stoked. Then I thought about buying a 9mm conversion kit and the cost associated with not even owning a 2nd firearm (just the barrel & conversion) and the PITA swapping it back and forth and decided I needed a dedicated Tavor to wear that suppressor and the thought of such a large/heavy 9mm system that was $2k just made no sense to me. I think this 300BLK version is kind of in that same category. It's a cool idea but functionally smoking 5.56 rounds at 3k fps out of such a short OAL package is where this platform shines.

Take that for whatever it's worth.

I do not have the funds to swing the Tavor but if I did it would be the Tavor X95 also announced. However I wonder if they will release it with a 16 inch barrel and require the end user to SBR it and buy a conversion kit with the shorter barrel.

Its my understanding that the .300 conversion kit is only going to be $499 ... I suspect it's only a replacement barrel (whereas the 9mm kit is a barrel, bolt/carrier and magazine).

First, some bona fides:
http://www.johnnyego.com/firearms/rifle_shotgun/tavor/tavorcan08.JPG
It has the Sabra trigger pack. I like it well enough. I do not find it to be particularly accurate at any distance. Good enough, but mine is not a sub MOA rifle, or a 1-MOA rifle, or even close. Probably in the range of 3-4 MOA is my guess. I'm not a great shooter, but I am good enough to realize the difference.

I like the Tavor, but I am not in love with it. Don't shoot it much now, certainly wouldn't shoot it more in .300 BLK. That is what I have an MRP for. I'm certainly not going to pay the $900 for the 9mm conversion kit. I really don't see how the X95 is any different than a dress swap on a Barbie Doll. I realize individual taste is all that really matters, but I just don't see this as being a big selling point for an expensive rifle that can be easily outperformed in many aspects by other firearms.

Again, not a Tavor hater, nor a lover. Mostly Tavor ambivalent.

I'm not a big 300blk guy but am excited about the release of the X95! Might have to sell my current Tavor and get this one.

So you're a Class III dealer with a letter from a LEO agency for a demonstrator? 'Cause if not, unless you can time travel to 1986 with it, you're not allowed to have one because of the happy switch :(

No happy switch, not a select fire weapon. They are releasing a civilian version, just announced. So even a pee-on like me can own one.

As I had mentioned in my previous post, I have not figured out if they are releasing it with a 16 inch barrel and you have to SBR it yourself or if they are going to have factory SBR available.

I have only seen (heard) word of a 16". Would assume they will do a 18" as well.

it's all those high #s after the $ that explain why I don't have a Tavor... I mean $500 for a barrel?

I'd rather spend time in the garage developing my own bullpup kit.
start with getting rid of the buffer tube, like this: http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_4/426271_.html

Then work on a remote trigger on a foregrip... and of course I'd have to build one lefty (or ambi... which would be another whole fun exercise)

The Tavor gets rid of the buffer tube. Box, checked. Think of all the money you'll earn w/the tike you just saved. Heck, it might even make up the difference between an AR fffd a Tavor!

I don't have the fun budget for a Tavor... building a bullpup wouldn't be about replacing a Tavor- it wouldn't be the same thing. But it would be fun... I have been known to go on a tangent of building something because I can, and because I enjoy the process, not that it's a practical build. I need more free time.

It's like a sickness... I just have to either fight it off like a virus, or succumb and build.

I have no interest at all for 300 black out in any weapon With that said my tavor is bad ass and shoots awesome. The wife likes it also it dosent have any front weight and is easier for her to maneuver around. Since I removed the extra return spring it is perfect, I couldn't be happier with it.

Be happier with it suppressed.

I know this is the .300Blk thread and not the X95, but what the hell did they do to the front-end of the X95? Looks meh compared to the original, oak-barrel foregrip of the original Israeli design. I know they're having to elongate it to fit the 16.5" barrel in there, but I'd rather just have the exposed barrel and maintain the classic front-end compared to what they've apparently done. IMO the only real thing to do with an X95 is to SBR it, anyways.

I had an opportunity to handle the civilian X95 today at SHOT. More compact then the Tavor and with an upgraded trigger. Last year I shot the Mil/LE X95 (13" barrel full auto). I was impressed enough that I want one. Hopefully it won't disappoint like my XCR.
