First Look: Kimber K6s Revolverby G&A Online Editors | January 18th, 2016

http://www.gunsandammo.com/files/2016/01/kimber-k6s-revolver-1.jpg
Kimber Mfg., Inc. announced the launch of its newest firearm platform: the Kimber K6s revolver.
The Kimber K6s is the world’s lightest small-frame six-round .357 Magnum revolver, and it brings an unmatched level of performance and shootability to concealed carry applications.
The Kimber K6s’ small frame, two-inch barrel and 1.39 inch diameter cylinder are machined from stainless steel for superior integrity, strength and resistance to the elements.
The Kimber K6s offers other important design features, such as: a smooth match-grade trigger that creates confidence while ensuring accuracy; an internal hammer and edges that are rounded and blended to help prevent a hang up when the revolver is removed from concealment; superior ergonomics and grip design that creates an extremely shooter-friendly experience; and an all stainless steel construction weighing in at 23 ounces.

“The K6s is truly a groundbreaking revolver, designed specifically for the concealed carry market, and keeping in-line with the Kimber tradition of manufacturing custom shop quality firearms at production quality prices,” said Richard Kirk, Kimber’s director of marketing and communications. “This revolver is a result of input from our consumers who wanted more in a small-frame wheel gun. Our engineers and designers answered these requests by pushing the envelope to create the lightest and most comfortable six-round .357 Magnum revolver ever offered.”
The Kimber K6s will initially be offered in three models; the K6s Stainless, K6s Stainless (LG) and a Limited K6s First Edition.

Yawn. What does it do that can't be done with a Ruger SP? A under barreled lowered bore 9mm would have been neat, or a revo that mimics the weight and feel of a Security Six or K Frame would be nice. Someday, fun easy to shoot target pistols will be popular again after the current rage of death ray pocket guns dies out.

I will have to admit it is a pretty sexy revolver. And I'm a bigger fan of small, six shot revolvers than I am small, five shot models.

I won't be running out to buy one though.

Yawn. What does it do that can't be done with a Ruger SP?

It gives the consumer another choice. Why is that bad? What does a _______________ do that can't be done with another similar gun? Choice is why there are about 1000 makes of AR rifles these days and there's always someone who likes one brand over another. Choice is good for the consumer and the industry.

What does a Security Six do that can't be done with various other revolvers?

Frankly, I'm glad to see another choice in the small .357 revolver category.

Looks like its made by Manurhin, a French company. That's all you need is a revolver that jams like a Kimber.

I came here to post this... Kimber is known for just putting their label on "OCS" (other companies stuff)
This really isn't something new, it's just marketing.

Sorry Kimber,

Apparently Kimber hasn't looked at the Ruger LCR in 357 mag. It is only 17 Oz.

At 23 ounces, it's pretty much the same weight as a Glock 19. And holds 62.5% fewer rounds.

It is a sexy revolver though. Did I mention that?

Looks nice, but same complaint as any other snubbie .357 mag. Due to the lack of barrel, it's ballistics effectively equate it to a really obnoxious, hard-kicking, low capacity 9mm with a lot of extra fireball and more difficult reloads.

4" barrel minimum with that cartridge IMHO.

Sounds like you guys need to put your heads together to create the world's first bullpup revolver.

I'm still a revolver fan but this gets a big "Meh" from me. First off, I'm not sure "lightweight" is a virtue when it comes to a .357 (I've got an S&W Airweight .38 and that isn't pleasant to fire even with run-of-the-mill .38 rounds, +P would be worse.)

Second, as others have said, besides bearing the Kimber name I'm not sure what this revolver offers that others currently on the market don't. I guess it's for people who want to say "I have a KIMBER!" knowing that the company has a reputation for making expensive guns, but given that this is apparently a rebadged Manurhin it's kind of like sticking a Mercedes badge onto an Opel.

I'll take an old S&W over this new "Kimber" any day of the week. ;)

For a few dollars more, I would rather stick with the Colt Magnum Carry. It is around the same weight, and I like Colts, and maybe a Smith here and there.

lightest "small frame" 6 round .357.

I agree though its not "revolutionary by any means.

So here is a smith 8 round (N frame) that weighs 21.4 oz. http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_764974_-1_775660_775655_757896_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y

I have shot a LCR .357 and would have no interest in any of these. The LCR was brutal and I'm glad a guy let me shoot his because i was tempted to buy one. I shot 4 and put the 5th round back in the box lol.

In fact I owned an smith airweight j-frame 38 snubby and sold it, i have an old 36 flat latch that weighs a little more and is way more pleasant to shoot.

Hoser, what would you use it for?

Stuff. You know.

It is a touch on the large/heavy side for pocket or ankle carry, but I think it would make and excellent truck gun. Right now that role is being filled by an 8 shot 627 snubbie.

36 ounce Model 65 Smith & Wesson, is hard to beat. For a knock around revolver.

Kimber is denying this claim, vociferously, but the fact is it sure looks like a Manurhin revo, or at least inspired by one!!

From the folks I've heard from that fired it at SHOT, most were willing to put it down quickly and walk away...

I put 24 rounds through it and thought it was not bad at all.

But I shoot a lot of revo. The same people that did not like it would not have liked any revo is my guess. They kick and are harder to shoot accurately.

I'll stick to my 686. I like to have some weight in a .357 and at least a 4" barrel.

Kimber is dancing through some quirks in identifying its 'class'. There are plenty lighter, but they're also 5-shot. There's also the S&W 386, but it's 7-shot and slightly heavier.

I can't see replacing my Walther PPS with one of these.

Anyone have any info. as to when these are supposed to get to the dealers? I'd like to at least handle one before publicly pillorying it.

BTW, I'd love to see S&W comes out with its own version of this, a six-shot, DAO (enclosed hammer) revolver, about 25-ish ounces, true 2" barrel.

I think it may have a niche in the market if it is similar to the Colt Magnum Carry. Have you seen the price of those lately? There are a few on Gun Broker in the $2200 range with 10 plus bids. I'm thinking Kimber wants to be in the revolver game and it looks like Colt has no interest in reviving some of there great old revolvers. It wouldn't be the first time Kimber expanded on something that Colt had successfully produced in the past (1911's). I think there is a big market for something sized like the 6 shot Colt Detective Special in a 357. Snub noses seem to always be in demand. Look at S&W model 60's they converted to it 357 and never looked back. I don't think they are trying to de-throne S&W or Ruger, I think they want to replace Colt.

Plus when Hilda beast gets in office a bans all semi-autos Kimber wants to ready with a revolver.
