I am not at a point where a progressive press can be justified and am looking at a new single stage press. Does anyone have any opinions on the RCBS Summit press vs the typical Rock Chucker or similar. I like the idea that is is all on top of the bench and not blocking drawers or otherwise hanging off the front of the bench.
I see many people mount their presses on some sort of riser, which would eliminate any drawer blocking.
Summit looks beefy out of the box, but I haven't bolted it down and pulled the handle yet.
Picked up one of the red, white & blue ones on a whim.

True, I should add I have some height preferences with my setup that would preferably avoid putting it on a riser.
Spent primer set-up seems a bit cheesy, but as I said, I haven't mounted it yet.
If you can get some time with a display/demo you probably should. I like the concept, just need to put it in service, and see if it fits my needs.

Oh, short handle option will likely be in my future, as well.
If you are forming wildcat brass or extensively sizing large magnum cases, the long handle that comes with it would be a plus. My opinion, the short handle ($$ add-on option) would see more use.

The mount at Cabelas is up to high, both them and Bass Pro mount their sample presses on the top shelf. So it just does not feel right running that long arm up and down. At normal height and with the optional shorter arm or a roller arm I think it would be great.
If you go Summit, Shoot me a PM. Unless you have BP or Cabelas gift cards, I have some vendor suggestions for price savings.

I will be buying online Bass Pro, Cabelas, and Sportsmans serve as places to window shop prior to actually spending cash.

Compared to the Rocker Chucker Supreme, it looks "bendy."

Pretty sure Bobbyfairbanks broke a summit press in about 20 minutes, but he could break an anvil...
No complaints on the Rockchucker from me...

I like these if you want a riser.

I've had a Rock Chucker for 25+ years. Great press, poor spent primer handling. Bought a Summit press 3 years ago...haven't used the Rock Chucker since. If you buy the Summit, buy the extra Handle (long or short...whichever doesn't come with yours).

Yup I ripped my handle off after a dozen or so case sizing. A very weak press where the handle joins in. And before stupid says something I know how to lube brass.

That made me chuckle.
Thanks. [emoji41]

I am guessing he does not know how lube brass.

He really is one of those strange animals that can do everything right and still have machinery break in his hands. Maybe he has a superpower like Magneto and just doesn't know how to control it yet.
Though I'm all set with my Dillons, that press does look kinda cool...

Poor ergonomics.
