I have a decent source for about a dozen or so here and there. Figured I would mention them in here for the prepper guys first. Would like to keep the quantities to each person limited to no more than 4. No lids, but with free buckets you can afford the gamma lids easier. Can usually meet up around 84th and federal or at sportsmans on 84th

Maybe a stupid questions.... What makes a bucket a food grade bucket......BPA free, leak free or the lid?

Id be interested in some, was letting others in first since I could use them for reef tank purposes.

Nordys, walmart , safeway & Soopers all have food grade 3 & 5gal buckets. Most with covers, running anywhere from free to $1.00 per. They were used for confectionery topping at super markets. Places like nordy's, for the pickles.

I got a bit buried between work and a last minute class. Will be out of town until next Wednesday, but after that I can meet up most days after 530 or mon-tues during the day.

These are food grade because they had food products in them and are safe to store food in. If you aren't buying brand new, always be sure that you know what was in a bucket previously before putting food (or aquarium water) in them as some things can and do get into the plastic and leech back out into whatever is in them over time.

Would a smaller size than 5 gallons work for you? Square? I only ask, because when I had a large salt water tank I hated man handling 5 gallon buckets everywhere

I just didn't fill them to the brim usually unless I had a good lid. Had several of the typical 5g water jugs, but prefered the open top of a 5gal bucket for doing some suctioning or maintenance or most specifically when used for buying/selling bigger life stock.

Just bought a 300g and getting back in.

I used to get them free from our local Dairy Queen down in Trinidad. That shop gave up their franchise.
