New AK front sight installation?

So after a few months of my PSA AK being built, I finally am getting around to the last thing I need to do on it; installing the front sight.

It seems simple enough, there is a small cylinder that goes into the front sight base and then the actual sight screws into that. However, it is being quite difficult as I've tried multiple times with a hammer and punch to get the cylinder into place and just can't get it to go.

It will seat just enough that it doesn't wiggle but seems to seize up after that. I know that most AK builds require a press, is this something that needs to be pressed in or can it be done with a hammer/punch?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

My dad has one....but I have to get the sight in enough to use it first. It only has enough clearance once the drum is about 60% of the way in.

Maybe toss the drum in the freezer for a while and heat the front sight with something?

This is what I used to install the drum and sight on my arsenal sgl-20. Made quick work of it, if you are up this way you can stop by and use it.

I appreciate all the advice! I ended up polishing up the slot in the front sight base with the dremmel and was able to get it to seat. Still enough resistance to hold it in but not too much where I can't adjust the sight with the tool. Thanks all!
