View Full Version : Background Check Fee drops to $6 on Mar 1, 2016
Didn't see it posted yet, but CBI sent me a letter earlier this week letting me know we can drop BGC fees to $6 on Mar 1. FYI.

They mention checks would now run 4-5 days before approval? J/K... Not to put it past them.
It may not be going down fast but at lest the price is going down.
They've slightly adjusted the gun tax again.
Meanwhile, the states that are letting the feds process are charging people $0.00.
But the Feds have decided to stop processing appeals.
I've never had a delay or denial but I can't imagine how frustrating that would be. It is an overt denial of the right with no due process.

IIRC, most people who got denied did not provide a social.

Which is Optional. If they're going to deny on a voluntary question. Change it to mandatory, or don't have it at all. IF Voters had to jump through the checks gun owners do, there would be an uprising. After the community organizers rounded up enough buses ;)

I don't like paying for the BGC, but I do like that its the CBI and not the Feds that we do our BGCs with here. Not involving the Fed.Gov is worth the $6-10.
Now I don't like doing a BGC on a private sale at all, nor do I like the mag ban, but one thing at a time.
We do still involve the fed though, it still runs through NICS and gets a NICS approval number (separate from the CBI number) basically they are running two checks.
Which is probably why I was denied once. Moved to CO from IL and my first background check I was denied from a "pending" battery charge, that I was found NOT GUILTY on, when I was 17 in IL. The state of IL never gave a "disposition of charges"???? I think that's the term. Which is weird because I passed a background in IL before moving out here.
Anyways....
Filed an appeal, was found in good standing, and have never had a problem since passing a background.

But that's because we have to pay for extra people to run the same check in parallel to the feds! Jobs program!

And I never provide the number which was never intended to be a means of identification.

What I love is the logical disconnect in liberals when you make the comparison. "Doesn't matter, guns kill!" as if politics never has.

The CBI denies a disproportionally high number of checks. The also have a disproportionally high number of sustained appeals. The CBI is doing a poor job. I'd rather see the the Feds take over. While I'm not a fan of the either system the CBI is worse then the Feds.
