I apologize if this is a double post from someone else. I've been off of the board for a few days and did a quick browse to see if anyone has already posted and saw nothing...
Colorado Springs police may sell seized firearms
The City Council is considering a program to let the Police Department sell confiscated guns to licensed dealers. Sales could net $10,000 a year.
Here's the Story (from the LA Times nonetheless): http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-gun-sales23-2009aug23,0,4831409.story
This has been considered for some time but it finally looks like it may happen. We need to get our local dealers from this board to help a brother out and hook us up.

that would be awesome!
this is already done by el paso county. My local dealer has bought several lots. basically bids on them and if he bids the best, he gets them. serial numbers are cleared and allowed for re-sale.
I scored a great deal on a few guns from this.
I know he has bought a few long gun lots and a couple pistol lots. some really nice guns came in there and some horribly crappy guns as well.
Why have they not done this previously since it seems like a perfectly legal transaction? Criminals commit crimes guns don't.
Let's do that! I'm all over it!

Because the standard school of thought on confiscated guns is that they should be destroyed. So wasteful. The guns are still getting the blame for any crimes they were involved in.

Keep in mind that only licensed FFL dealers will be allowed to purchase any of these firearms and you will have to go through said dealers to purchase them for yourselves.
