Tragic.
So much tragedy throughout history.
Any particular reason you shared this bit today?
If you liked that one you should check out the sand creek massacre.
Coal mining wars get me thinking about Ludlow or Matewan, WV.

Obviously there is a racial and immigration component to Rock Springs as well.

I'm not sure if I was supposed to laugh at that, but I can't seem to stop.
Just sharing information.

I'm not sure either. Lol.
My post wasn't any more out of left field than the original post.
His incident was white people killing Chinamen, mine was white people killing Indians. Both of which were actually widely accepted at that point in history.

I learned all about the Meeker Massacre after I moved here and then visited Ft. Steele in WY. Just a fascinating bit of history.

Next time you use the word Chinamen, please add a trigger warning.

My apologies. Not really a word I use. That's just what they called them back in those times. I love all of my Asian brothers.

Huh.. Interesting.. I just drove through Rock Springs this past week on the way to and back from Jackson.. Whatever you do, don't stop at the Ammo Hut, unless you enjoy the company of bat shit crazy old ladies..
I lived in Rock Springs during the Trona craze in the mid 1970's. It was a wild place back then and kind of a shithole with drugs, prostitution, crime and crooked cops. Ended up moving to Ft Bridger, much nicer place (except for doing some construction work for Mark Hopkinson, who was later executed for the murder of 4 people), the Uinta Mountains and the Flaming Gorge (Utah) are spectacular.
Lots of cool history in Wyoming and the West in general, some of it not good.
