I ask out of curiosity. I have had wierd happenings south of Vernal and then I have drilled all over the Western Slope and had uneasy feeling over Douglas pass and in the Book Cliffs, not to far from Junction. Just curious since there are some members on the Western Slope.

I see a skinwalker every day in the White house. He has the ability to walk around in sheeps clothing while he pretends to follow the constitution while really trying to turn us into a some sort of VOO DOO communist socialist fascist progressive country. An evil spirit. Come to think of it the whole lot of them in Washington might be skinwalkers. OH OH

Hello everybody, I'm Navajo. I spent a lot of my life on the reservation. Have I seen skinwalkers? Yes, but Navajos aren't supposed to talk about experiances with anybody, not even other Navajos.

Skinwalkers are something that we have believed in for hundreds of years, its part of are culture not voo doo whatever like all you Indian experts claim.

Thanks for the insight. While some of the "voo doo" comments were simply cultural or political jest, it is good that you can provide clarification.

I had never heard of this until now, but it's interesting to learn about.

Thank you for a real point of view.
Why is it so taboo to talk of experiences or about them?

Ouch!

This is new to me to, but I, too, find it fascinating. Any chance we could get more insight on this custom/tradition?

George R.R. Martin has something similar to this in his "Song of Ice and Fire" series. The layman's term (in the book) is a Warg, or a skin changer. In the book, the person just takes control of whatever animal's mind though. The person will simultaneously inhabit their own mind, and that of the current chosen animal.

The Navajo believe that skinwalkers are never to be talked about or thought about. Its like a person talking or thinking about the devil or evil spirits, its just something you don't do. The more you think about them the more control or power they have over you. This is where my two lives conflict. On one side I was raised Southern Baptist and believe what comes with that. The other side of me is Navajo, which i can't ignore/disrespect.

There are mysteries,legends,folklore,and truths.
Spirit walkers, dream weavers, and so many more.

But if you don't know the Way,,beware you can become one of the Lost. ;)

In the culture of my family, you can only go to Vahalla if you die with your sword in your hand, the devil's name is Loki and he isn't really evil, just a trickster, and there was no sanctified marriage. We had a shape-shifter too, she seduced a future king and gave birth to a monster.

We quit believing in all of that and instead started believing in immaculate conception....

[Poke]

I love the mythologies of my heritage and those of other cultures too, but I see them for what they are.

Are you seriously asking the masses on this site if there are entities with the ability to change their physical make-up on command, regardless of the location?[Shock]
