I've been staring at the damn thing on my bench for the last year (when I cut it all out, beveled and heat treated it), so I put some handles on this week. I still have a lot of work to do, but it's coming along. I'm most happy about the way the heat-treat came out this time. The file skates across the metal, but when I have it in the vice, it's still flexible.

I have to make it less blocky feeling, touch up the metal, make a sheath and put an edge on it.

Thanks. I wanted to go with a lighter color and straight grain. I just happened to have a nice hunk of oak hardwood floor that looked pretty good. I'm planning on the natural / tanned leather look for the sheath as well. I went dark last time.

I like when people "repurpose" stuff. Using the hardwood flooring for the handle was a cool idea.

Some day I might try my hand at making my own blade. I have a kiln that is fully programmable that I think might work well for tempering the blade.

Hacksaw, files and belt sander. Wish I had the garage space for a big 6' belt, drill press, etc.
