Well, drove up with my son today to catch the game at Coors with my DU student daughter...end of first DU up 2-0.

They better get to it!

35,144 ppl in attendance. I think that's more than most Rockies games.
They have outdoor ice hockey? Awesome.

Special occasions usually....

Sorry, I was there earlier in the week and what struck me was how far any of the seats are from the ice. I would've needed binoculars to see anything so I declined the seats offered to me.

Doc, you were about right on your assessment, but I think it was worth the effort. We were on the first level and behind home plate so could have been closer, however still close enough that it was better than watching the Jumbotron.

Anyone know the final? We left early with DU winning 4-1.

That's the final score. CC had a goal called back, possibly for goaltender interference. We left with 10min to go in the 3rd to beat the crowd. Good times.

Glad you had a great time and you're fortunate to have your kids with you as well. I think it's awesome they were able to bring the rink here.

From the pic that sure doesn't look like 35,144 ppl. I wonder if the crowd will look like that for the Av's. At the price they are charging for tickets I bet so.
Looks like that picture was taken before the game started. When they announced the attendance, most of the upper stands were filled with people.

The Avs game will be a sell out I'm sure. I wish they would have held it at Folsom instead. I'd actually go there to watch a hockey game.

As as a season ticket holder they have been blasting is for months to buy tickets. I've been to all but 2 of the AVs home games and flew to an away game, but for the crappy view and expensive price I just can't justify going. As of now there are still lots of tickets available from what I can tell.

Yes, the pic was from about 30 mins before game time. I think if you were on the second or upper deck the view would be good to go. It's not a dedicated ice hockey venue so you have to decide if the outdoors hockey was worth the novelty.

Seems like Sports Authority field would be a better place to setup a make believe pond hockey game.
Baseball diamonds and hockey rinks don't exactly go together it seems.

Nope, diamonds and rectangles don't match up well....

Most definitely, but if they can't sell 50,000 tickets to Coors Field I don't blame them for not trying to sell 76,000 tickets at Sports Authority field.

Saw the outdoor game at Wrigley several years back and while the seat I had would have been prime for baseball as from my seat I was first row staring directly at 3rd base, it sucked for the hockey rink. I was staring at the boards and could only see from the center face off circle and further away. The views from Michigan Stadium, even upper level were much better, even though the players were a lot smaller. Though pics from the first rows in the lower seating areas were unobstructed and decently close.

Hence why Folsom would have made a great venue.
Did you guys see the Avs Alumni Game roster? It's the dang Stanley Cup winning team! Forsberg, Sakic, Roy and even Ray Bourque is playing. $1,300 for my family of 3 for both games. I so want to go.
