If I owned a Chevy HHR, I might get violent too. Owning one of those things is a pretty clear indicator of bad decision-making skills.

You HHR pilots have a right to be violent but shouldn't take it out on others.

Its the same designer, Bryan Nesbitt (who also designed the '08-'12 Chevy Malibu and now runs the GM design division in China ... his work was so loved in Detroit that they sent him to the other side of the planet :p ).

Both cars are ugly and suck. Don't know as much about the HHR as I do the PT, but I was very underwhelmed by the PT Loser (wife had one as a loaner from the dealership. Never again.

My Dad has a turbocharged PT with a manual transmission, it's surprisingly quick for what it is. I still would never own one though. Riddled with little problems that'll nickel and dime you to death.

I call his the PT Bruiser, because it has seriously bruised some egos of car owners who thought they were fast.

I <3 my subaru and don't understand the shade others throw. I've never lost control in the snow (that wasn't clearly my inexperienced fault) and never had a piece break or malfunction (knock on wood). I get good mileage and it takes me from point A to B and I feel reasonably secure in the event of a collision not involving a semi or F250 (not going to be the same as being in a heavier BMW or Benz, but I didn't want to be in that maintenance market at this point). I've never not been able to easily fit everything I wanted to in there.

I get it that a lot of people see soccer moms irresponsibly driving them as they apply makeup and gab on the phone or granola munching hipster-beard douchebags with obummer/biden stickers, but I've seen loads more dumb pieces of shit irresponsibly driving tahoes, suburbans, even pickups for that matter, etc.

Had me worried for a while, Kalamazoo is my hometown and the Cracker Barrel off of I-94 is where my uncle takes my grandmother for lunch after mass on Sundays. My dad and his wife like to go there every few weeks for dinner as well.

Question...

If there's an active shooter in one's neighborhood, under the rules regarding ID&D, and especially after someone has already been hit, wouldn't it be legal for one to stop the threat with their own rifle?

I will never own one for their ad campaigns and who they market to. The latest one was tree huggers...literally. And the majority of them are the granola hippy coexist Obama loving libtards. I think they are probably good vehicles, but you won't see me in one. Same with a Prius and their rainbow commercials and same bumper stickers as the subys.

Do you fear for your life? Are you or your loved ones being directly threatened? Are you all out of possible escape routes? Real questions to consider...

Lovely how society ties its own hands with liability issues, especially those coming from suspects' families looking to cash in after dear baby gets justifiably put down. Reminds me of China and their (lack of) good samaritan laws. Here's an awesome paper dealing with that: http://www.lawschool.cornell.edu/research/ILJ/upload/Tang-final.pdf It's why you see LiveLeak videos of indifferent chinese civilians staring-at/passing hurt people on the street for fear that they'll turn around and get sued by someone.

If an off-duty cop comes to the rescue with a rifle, "Oh he's just clocking in while in khakis and a t-shirt." If a civilian does the same, it's "What laws did he break and is the DA going to go after him?"

In fairness, society expects this type of behavior from cops...on duty or off. The other issue is most people don't go about their daily lives with a rifle. As much as I preach to others about the superiority of rifle, I don't either because it's not practical. That's why we have handguns.

And there have been plenty of instances lately where Joe Citizen has intervened with a gun during shooting situations and not faced charges. In Colorado protecting an innocent third person from imminent death or SBI is no different from protecting yourself under the law. I don't think it's a given at all that a DA will always prosecute. Now a civil suit from the bad guy or his family? Different story.

Civil and criminal liability are exactly why we teach to engage only as a last resort...if your life or the life of someone you care about is in immediate jeopardy. Not a hard and fast "don't do it", more of a "make sure you understand the potential outcomes" before you make that decision.

My comment was geared more toward the personal moral justification of killing another person, which should always receive adequate consideration.

Yes, the legal/civil suit part of it is indeed sad.

You smoke weed in your house? You're a criminal! You deserve to die, scum!
You pirated music while you were in college? You're a criminal! You deserve to die, scum!
You fired a pellet gun in your backyard? You're a criminal! You deserve to die, scum!

The law is a terrible basis for moral justification. Slavery was legal. Segregation was legal. Everything Hitler did in Germany was legal.

Badger I understand what you're saying but if someone is shooting random people my concern would be first neutralizing the threat and protecting my family, myself and others before having concern for the shooter's well being. Of course I'd call for medical attention once the threat was stopped. I meant legally.

My first priority is protecting my family. If that happens by way of neutralizing a threat, then so be it. The best gun fight is one that is avoided.

Word to the wise. Be very careful how you express your opinions on this forum as the usual high post count clique on here will crucify you immediately if your views are not the same as theirs. You can be one of the "club" as long as you agree with their thinking. I know this first hand, as every time I post anything that does not conform to the groups line of thinking, the same posters quickly attack me at will, (even the ones that supposedly ignore my posts) but I am expected to take their slurs and not respond in kind. Now, even the new posters with very little time on the forum are falling in line to give me a few blows. If you want to be popular on this site, CONFORM. HAVE THE SAME OPINIONS AS THE FORUM "LEADERS", or you will be an outcast.

Yeah, but do you really care if they don't share your opinion on something anyways?

I know I've expressed my views on some things that most people here don't agree with. Hell, just last week I made a comment that "everyone needs a truck" and Irving immediately lashed out at me because he didn't agree. And that was nothing compared to the time I mentioned that I support illegal immigration.

You do have a few keyboard commandos on here that are pretty quick to jump into the fray if they disagree with a post but overall even they are good people in the real world. Plus, hop in to just about any other firearm form and you'll see just how tame and laid back this place is.
